I have a little problem. Paypal has limited my account and right now I can only get money and not send it.

All Paypal has told me is

9 Jun. 2007: We have reason to believe that your account was accessed by a third party. We have limited access to sensitive PayPal account features in case your account has been accessed by an unauthorised third party. We understand that having limited access can be an inconvenience, but protecting your account is our primary concern.

Any ideas on what may have happened. I have my ideas but my hosting was doing very well and I kinda need Paypal to keep it running :fangel:

The same happened to me a few days ago. If you do as they ask, you'll have your account back the next day. You can still accept payments while the account is limited, if that's one of your worries.

I done what was asked (changed passwords and secret questions) and they emailed me the next day to say that I had my account back.

They might have got suspicious over your account as well as others such as mine, so decided to get us to all change passwords etc.

The problem is that I have done all of that -_-

Well if you've done all of that, it's just time to play the waiting game. :)

If you don't get anything back from them within 24 hours of you doing as they asked, contact them and I'm sure they'll be able to help you a bit more.

Also it might heppened because of different IP you have entered in your account. Maybe you had a vocation outside?

Here's a thought (And I know it's a wild thought), have you tried calling them to get it resolved? I know, crazy thought!

:P, Tried, all they say is I should get a letter with what I have to do. Do anyone know how long it would take to get here (UK).

Shouldn't take too long,do you have FAX facilities they like them, as they get it in a form they can store as proper records.

A scanner and a PC should do for a fax :P

I thought it was just a one off, this is really annoying now considering I NEED to make payments today using their damn service.

Contact them, admittedly their e-mail support is a bit 'uninformed' so phone is probably best.

Hate to see them getting bashed so much as I've used them for years without more than minor issues.

Mine was resolved in just under an hour, it was a little annoying knowing that I couldn't make the payments when I wanted, but atleast it's working now. I hope the OP also has his account back now.

Nope. I have contacted them via phone, e-mail etc and they say I will get a letter with some steps I have to do.

No need to be rude. The user was just relying their experience with paypal with the same situation. In his case, they never replied to his faxes, something the OP should make note of, as he may find it difficult to resolve this issue.

I've never had a problem like this with PayPal. But recently a client made a full year payment of about $2XX and paypal has put those funds on hold to run a fraud check.

I hope that the user doesn't get angry about not having access to an account they have paid for 1 and a half weeks ago. Due to PayPal's investigation I cannot send account details to the client because there is a 50% chance that I wont get that money to use to pay for the server but yeah. How many of you guys have had this kind of thing happen to you?
