what would preform better for a web server that runs php, mysql, and a bunch of file transfers. what has better performance, a pentium III 1.2ghz or a celeron 1.7ghz. both with 1gb ram and an 80gb hard drive running cent os.

p3 1.2, some Pentium III processors run even better than the first Pentium IV ones.

Celeron is a cheap version of the Pentium, a 1.2 Pentium will be better than a 2.0 Celeron for hosting any day.

Yeah, Pantium is much better than Celeron.

the 1.2 is generally a pretty good sized workhorse for a web unit. Celerons can be nice but when it comes to database driven applications they tend to crap out pretty fast.

pentium III 1.2ghz will do the best not celeron as celeron is not a good one is slow
