A lot of billing software is available today ... I will not name them all but they are all missing something in it. No matter how good they are, there is either too much features we do not use or too little.
I would like to know what you would envision as the ideal billing software for your business. Here is some stuff on my wish list :
1- Real-time billing
2- Integrated affiliate system
3- Integrated human resources management (sales representative tracker, punch in-punch out for employees, pay, etc.)
4- Full domain name management
5- An easy to understand API (ideally soap/xml based).
6- An efficient lead system and ad campaign tracker.
In fact I envision more something in the line of a Web Hosting Suite that can do everything we need to do in our everyday life :)

What do you mean by real-time billing?
Many billing softwares already have affiliate systems in place.
I'm not too sure punch in and out for employees work though. If it's remotely, they can simply sign in and just leave their computer on...

Few features are worth to be improved "affiliate system" as you said.
I do agree on this point.

WHMCS does not fall under most of your downpoints.
WHMCS is not bloatware, it only includes the things you want to use.
WHMCS includes everything you need.
It has full domain name management.
It has an easy API in terms of Database and Checkout Scripts, as well as PHP in the template file.
All in all, WHMCS is the perfect solution.

It would be nice if whmcs would add something like this.Actually a project tracker would be good enough.

I think ----i dev affiliate--------- is good as an extra affiliate system. As for the rest of it, it can easily be outsourced to another program. It would be nice for all inclusive though.

WHMCS works fine for me, it has all the features that anyone could ever need. As far as too many features, its quite simple if you dont need it dont use it ;) I dont agree however with time management for HR especially remotely. As Volt said it would be fairly easy for a employee to just leave their pc on and walk away..hence missusing the system...

Although, that's a small part from it... There's a lot more thing that could be added to make sure that doesn't happend

Could work out. This would be an awesome solution.
I am currently using ClientExec and I am very happy with it.
