Just curious about this, though I know we have had a few in the past.

I just want to see what everyone has, because as I type away here happily, on the machine I have had for about 2 years now... i still get annoyed at how computers well.. get faster.

I mean, I do a lot of stuff... I have programs like Photoshop/Dremweaver/Paint shop Pro/Countless other programs all open at the one time... and things still seem to work fine... and my computer is never slow (especially now since i'm running XP).

I reckon I can survive at least another 3 years on the following setup (apart from maybe getting a bigger monitor)

- Pentium 550
- 384 MB Ram
- 17.3 gig hd
- 15 inch monitor
- 8 meg video card
- sound card...er... just standard one i guess, does the job tho?
- 8/4/32 cd burner

I am currently using a PII 400 (overclocked to 450 ), 128mb sdram, 17 inch monitor and a Riva TNT video card. I have had it for almost 5 years, so you know how good it was when I just bought it.

I plan on getting a new PC when Pentium 5 comes out next year.

Did you order that burner a while ago, GC? That's pretty slow. :confused2

is0lized - Do you have computer swap meets where you live? Might pick up a good monitor at one of them. I got a nice second hand 15 inch one (looks, and acts brand new!) for only $90 AUD.

Good enough for your purposes... that is what I always say. :biggrin2:

I was tempted to buy a faster one when my mate showed me his 24 speed one. Woah. That baby was fast. But eh... yeah... my 8 speed one is enough for my purposes.

Waste of money for me to get a faster one. :chinese2:

Unless you're willing to lie to microsoft, you're going to have to buy an individual copy of XP for each computer. Trust me on this one, it wont work unless you get on the phone and call microsoft tech support and lie about how you are un-installing it on one computer and putting it on another to get extra activation codes.

By the way, if you want a full install, get an upgrade disc then boot off of it, delete the main partition, make a new one, format it, and then it will continue to install a full copy off of an XP disk. Believe it or not, MS tech support told me this :D and it works :devious2:

Yeah... nice quality... and it won't break down like other multifunctions. I heard very good reviews. I was looking at other multifunctions and they weren't any good. So far it has been dependable, and I have put it to heavy use. I just scanned 60 paintings for art class, which I then burned onto a CD-R.
