I currently have an iQon Windows XP at home in Ireland but will be looking to purchase a new machine soon.
Can any of you guys post some recommendations for me?

Cheers.

maybe these are some things you need to check before buying a new one:

how big is the money/budget would you spent/allocate for this upgrade?
do you like playing heavy games?
Does your windows xp pro running an OEM license? if you upgrade your computer i'm afraid you'll need to purchase a new license or else you will violate the eula.
will you upgrade the whole PC or just some components?

hope this helps.

If you feel up to it, I highly recommend you build your own. You can end up with an extremely hi-spec PC for a low-spec price.

What don't you like about your current machine?

Take a look at what dell offers if you want to go pre-built.
For slightly more then a grand you can have a sweet machine with a 22-24" lcd :)

For that you'll need

Core 2 Duo Extreme
16GB RAM
4x1TB Hard Drives
1GB Video Card

Cheers folks.

@ The Stealthy One:
This one is my second XP and I must say they are crap. I don't like them at all. They get logged up with unnecessary rubbish so quickly it's unbelievable and no matter how careful you are with it, after a few months, Defragment will only work for about quarter of the procedure and tell you that "not all files could be defragmented".

So, I am looking for something more reliable and strong.

Dell is one of my options.
What utcrazy has posted sounds awesome. :)

i've just upgraded my pc last week, i build my own pc, i still prefer building my own pc than buying a complete one (like dell, HP, IBM). you can really choose the components (RAM, HDD, Motherboard, etc.) to fit your need and budget.

my last week upgrade (i still use some of my old components) cost me around $1300 just for the cpu (just for motherboard, processor, ram, hdd, case, graphic card, Power supply unit, soud card, keyboard, cooling fans) and i'm really satisfied with the result & the performance.

Then your problem is with Windows, and the new Vista is 10 times worse than XP. Get a Mac. Seriously.

yes, mac is more stable and faster, but mac softwares are not as much as windows softwares. so, it still depend on what do you use your computer for?

have you tried of reinstalling your windows? if windows is the problem, then reinstalling windows can fix your problem.

No, but BootCamp allows you to run pretty much any Windows program on a Mac now. Because they now use Intel processors, it really is painless. :)
