Hello, I am the now the founder of a newly started game development team known as "Grindworks Studios", and we are currently working on our first flagship product which is in heavy development and design.

We are in need of a free website hoster (preferably with a FREE .com/.org/.net name) who can we sort of "partner" with. Preferably, we would like the following:

-5 GB of Webspace
-10 GB of Bandwidth
-PHP 4/5 and MySQL support
-CPanel Access
-Free .com/.net/.org name

We would gladly offer anything for the partnership, including mention of your name, services, whatever, in order to make this deal worthwhile. But please, no google ads or large intrusive (even text ads that take up a lot of the page).

I know this is sort of a big request, but we as a team are financially constricted right now due to our game being made under a no-budget plan. We do, however, aim for retail release via digital download off the site, so we could also offer some sort of percentage that way when the game comes out (possibly!)

If you would like to discuss the matter, you can e-mail me at zachatie @ msn.com, MSN me at zachmeyer @ movie-boards.com, or you can also post here or PM me.

Below are some shots of the latest build, in case you would like to see that. It is very early, but our current build (v 0.0.0.2) is currently unavailable due to the state of its development.

Also, here is the team structure at this point:

Team Management - Zach Meyer(Myself, Founder), Cameron Degraw
Concept Art Department - David Osswald, Yanic Barrett
3D Modeling Department - Dylan Allison, Matt Spencer
Programming Department - Nathan Crandall, Rene Alfonso, Travis Meyer
Game Design Department - Zach Meyer(Myself, Founder), Cameron Degraw
Sound Design Department - Jared Beckham

Thanks to everyone who is willing to take up our offer!

Zach Meyer

Hello, Seraphino

Currently NWH: Networks are moving, however once we get stable and steady we could provide you hosting. We might also get you a free .com domain, if not a free .info domain depending on how we move along in the host and the way the money looks like. When we are steady and ready to accept you I will PM you or you can PM me to keep in contact, and once I am able to I will provide you a link so you can get your hosting.

Thanks,
NWH: Networks

This is against FWS rules. Under no circumstance are you allowed to request for free domains. Please read the rules.

I am just curious as to why that is against the rules? This is not a scam, I am being entirely honest. Shouldn't this sort of thing be left up to the hosters whether they want to do it or not?

This just doesn't make any sense to me....I am not scamming, I am not breaking any morality laws, I am not stealing, I am not spamming, cheating, or using foul language...

I mean, if a hoster would want to offer me a free domain with hosting, shouldn't they have every right to do so? I just don't see how this could be such a problem, please explain this to me...

[EDIT]

OK, I just read the rules, and here is my response. I am neither asking for a sponsor OR purchasing a domain for me. As a matter of fact, I am actually offering pay for the domain via some sort of affiliation-type agreement. Therefore, I don't see how this could possibly be breaking the rules, unless I haven't read the definition of sponsor or gift in a long time...

Not sure, but this has been discussed before. And anything deemed as "free" domains is against regulations.

Sorry for bringing this up in your topic.

Schmarvin is right. But so is Seraphino.
If you start a thread asking someone to sponsor or buy you a domain, it will be removed. It is against the rules to ask for someone to buy you a domain but it doesn't say you can't ask somone for a spare domain. Like maybe they have a old domain they don't use(e.x. http://www.ouroldhostingdomain.someextension). So both of you are right in a certain point of view.

Well according to the forum rules asking for a free domain is not allowed.

Maybe a Moderator or Admin can clear things up here ?!?!?!?

PaulP.

From what I can gather it is against the rules to create a thread asking for a free domain. I don't think it is against the rules to add it to a free hosting request. Although, if I am wrong on that I stand corrected.
