Virgin Media has had DNS issues since very early this morning,on cable only as far as I know, so if your having problems getting to some sites remember that when trying to work out why.
If you can find out the site IP you can add it to a hosts file and you should access okay from there as there does not appear to be any routing issues just DNS.

They have something rotten, it's been a total shambles since they took over.
Our home phone/tv/broadband as well have been shocking since Virgin got involved.

Yup, I second that, I know a couple of people who are on Virgin & they are always telling me of outages, cock-ups, bollock-ups & f**k-ups.

Well it's still bits up - over a week ago they lost DHCP services taking out connected routers and modems, then their DNS went, now it's been over a week and responses through the systems are almost less than 56k modems on a really bad day - I mean a really bad day.
At the offices it's fine - as it's not Virgin Media, at home I'm stuck with it till I get it changed over as it's really unworkable.
That and you have to phone a premium rate number till you can prove it's thier fault.
Glitch in the plan is if your phone is out you can't, or if you block premium rate due to teenagers etc - again you can't, and it's 24 hours to lift the block.
Your broadband is down so you can't log an e-mail ticket (waste of time as it takes 1-2 weeks for any response, usually starting with 'sorry for the delay').
But here is the biggy - I have it on premier authority (high level from the company which shall remain nameless but supplies the hepdesk - Iused to work for them and it 'slipped out' at a meeting) that they are contracted to keep you on the line for as long as possible - not solve your problem, just keep you doing silly things.
The TV (freezes, unavailable, TV guide is not there at all for current times) and phone are cack too now, so now you know info shared is a good thing - but not for Virgin in this case :(
