eddiek: How may I help You?

John: Hello, I'm wondering if you can make a custom plan for

John: me

eddiek: Yes we do allow custom plans, i can set it up automatically for you.

John: Ok I need 25GB Disk, 250GB Bandwidth, looking for around $5.00/month

eddiek: Im sorry we cannot offer that much disk space and bandwidth/ for that low of price. That would create an overselling problem.

John: You don't have 25GB space left on your server?

eddiek: We do offer a free trial if you would like to give our web hosting a try? It is free of charge and set up instantly upon your registration.

eddiek: Yes we do have 25 gb's left on our server, but we cannot sell 25 gigs for $5.00/Month that will create an overselling problem.

John: Ok how about 7.00

John: t's more than enough

John: ost people charge that

John: www.*********.com

John: They have 50GB for 6.95

eddiek: Im sorry. Are you able to downgrade your requirements? Overselling is a big problem with alot of web hosts these days. We are dedicated to providing quality and being true to our customer. If we sold 25 gigs of space for anything under 40.00 or 50.00 / month we would be overselling.

John: I've seen hosts offering unlimited so obviously it can be done

eddiek: Please show me a host that provides 50 gigs of space for $5.00/Month (Unlimited Does Not Exist, Please DON'T BE FOOLED)

John: www.*********.com

eddiek: The only possible way we could sell this package is $45.00/Month

eddiek: Hello John are you still here?

John: y would that matter

John: why*

eddiek: I would be able to set you up on that plan for $45.00/Month

eddiek: I can give you one of our affiliate sites that you may be happy with, as we try as hard as we can to help keep customers happy. Even if they do not purchase webhosting from us we try to refer them to someone that they will be able to get what they want usually at the prices they want. Our goal is to make sure everyone that comes to hostparlor.com is happy with our services even if that means refering them to another host

eddiek: Hello John, are you still here?

eddiek: John, i am going to push you to our affiliate site that you may be more happily compelled with when it comes to your host search with them requirements

eddiek: Http://www.********.com/

eddiek: As i have not recieved a response from you within 10 minutes, i am going to consider this live response as closed. If you have any more questions please feel free to contact our live support department whenever you feel the need. It was nice speaking with you, and i am very sorry that we couldn't help you in your search.

Did i do anything wrong on that live support ticket?

Sorry but yes you were in the wrong, they cant provide what you require because they will not lower their quality for you.

I commend them for their actions as they provide quality over quantity. If you would rather they provide the plan that whateverhost.com offers... then why not go with whateverhost?

Yes. You asked for Unlimited space basically.
Also, the support rep was absolutely 100% ethically correct in everything he said. I applaud him.

I'd have to agree, they are giving you quality over quantity. There are very few companies that do that anymore. You were definitely wrong.

Alright i don't think anyone is understanding this post.

I am the host, i am eddiek, i was in a live support with a potential customer (John) i was asking input if I as a host treated the live support ticket right or wrong. I denied the 25 gig web hosting for $5.00/Month. I was asking input if i should have created that plan for him or if i was in the right by denying him web hosting because i prefer quality over quantity.

You did very well HP. Don't stress about the $5 50 GB account potential customers. I learned along time ago that most of the people looking for such a deal are not going to be around the next month to pay you anyways.

Good Job ;)

I would love to be able to offer that much space for so cheap, but i would be consistantly loosing money if i where to offer that package. I tried to tell him that unlimited DOES NOT EXIST, he then rose his offer to 7.00 LOL even if i where able to offer that much space for so little, that would make me a very unreliable web host! BLAH
some people want to much..LOL thank you guys.

You handled it great, but since you asked, I'll point out a few things I would have done differently.

You kept saying "that would be overselling." Perhaps you should have tried to explain it to him better, to try to get it in his head.

Other than that, he was a little pushy, and I think you handled it very, very well.

Bpmedia-David, That is a good idea, i will explain next time..LOL is it ethical for a host to just close a live support if someone is acting like that, or should i continue waisting my time with him? Like say

Thank you for contacting hostparlor.com live support! If you need any further assistance other then what we have already gone over please feel free to contact me. This live support is now considered closed. Thank you and have a nice day! Then wait for them to say something, the only thing they can really say is: ok, thanks or something smart and stupid.

would that be ethical or would that make hostparlor look bad?

Such clients are better with this convos...lol

Well, I've also found with my research, get more clients with unlimited space, transfer etc. (99% of them use no more than 500 MB of space) and whoever uses more than 2-5 GB, good bye them...LOL

I like the line from King of the Hill, "If there is ever a customer you cannot handle, just push this button, that will hang up on them."

Hostparlor is a rip off. I did some website work for this guy on a template a couple weeks ago.Uploaded it for his visual comfirmation to ensure he would be happy with it befor he paid me and he quickly ripped source and images. Then He stiffed me of the money he owed me.Do not do business with, he is a fraud and very unprofessional.

I've known hims for aobut 2 years and i thought he was my friend, with friends like him who needs enemies.
