We had somebody with the IP address 81.95.151.50 create 4 accounts on Hexcetera.net and post porn adverts. I suggest you block it to stop spam on your forum :)

Those are called spambots mate, there are tens of thousands of them out there. Are you going to post the IP address of each spambot that hits your forum? Good luck with that :p. Others blocking them is no solution and a waste of time. There are too much of them out there.

You'll need CAPTCHA in combination with at least one other anti-spam system.

Mate, they can get through anything. Depends on how much money they are willing to waste on this form of advertising... Normally a lot!

It's like email spamfilters. The more techniques you use, the better your results will be. If you manage to filter 90-95% of all incoming spam using things like CAPTCHA it would be good. Something that is currently very good for blocking spam bots is animated GIF image verification: the letters/numbers you have to type kind of dance around randomly, or move up and down etc. Many spambot software packages aren't equipped for this yet.

Why do any spammers bother if they know most of their spam mails will end up filtered and another big part will get manually deleted? Because it is a cheap way of advertising, and it is an EFFECTIVE way of advertising. You must realize that A LOT of people still read those spam mails and click the links. The main reason why spam still exists is because it works. Not everyone just ignores/removes spam, unfortunately.
Same counts for such blog/forum spam: Such spam botnets post thousands of spam messages per minute. By the time they are all manually deleted by the owners of these forums/blogs, people WILL have already looked at them and clicked on them.
