I'm not 100% sure either why everyone makes such a big deal of this, but I guess the fact that it looks like she didn't know what she was saying makes it funny.

You can tell she was prepared. She mentioned all these keywords - Iraq, education, the future... she was on the right track. Too bad the question was about locating the US on a map.
