I don't know how many people have heard of this, so I'll throw it out there.
Damn Vulnerable Linux is made to be the most vulnerable (modern) operating system available. It's meant to be run through VMware/Vbox/Qemu, etc, and never actually installed, and lets the user to learn about everything from reverse engineering to web application security.
The description says it's 150-ish mb, but the ISO I'm downloading at the moment (Strychnine-E605) is clocking in around 1044mb.
So, uh, go and learn stuff.
