I am going to start achiving a lot of DVDs because I ruined a few due to a roommate situation, and want to know the best way to do it.

The way I have been doing it is with Ripit4me, which encompasses DVD Decrypter, FixVTS, and DVDShrink.

I just need DVD-5 backups, not DVD-9. Whats the easiest, quickest, yet highest quality method you guys have found?

[disclaimer: yes i know I could google this, but I have googled this a thousand times and find so many different ways. I want YOUR opinion of what works best and fastest, not directions to doom9/etc. thanks!]

My way to backup my dvd collection is to use DVDFab HD Decrypter (free version) http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm

The free version is usually updated weekly

and 1click DVD copy (Paid)

It does just that. Compiles, compresses ect with 1 click.

For burning files onto a playable DVD I use convertXtoDVD.. and MagicDVDRipper seems to work well with ripping.

1click DVD Copy is great for DVD -> DVD.

How do you want to store Matt?

Big disk, more DVD's, NAS box?

What quality are you after, I can suggest various methods but depends on the replay quality.

Just DVD-9 to DVD-5. Quality is a concern, but not a huge one. Just wanting backups, not perfect ones but watchable ones. A bunch of my DVDs were damaged by a roommate and I didn't have copies of them, and thats a big pain in the ---. Just want to make sure this doesn't happen again, or if it did, I have a somewhat watchable backup.

DVDShrink is the best option I've found for it then, use it myself for the good ones I don't want knackered and hide the origionals (this is within copyright to backup the media :D )

Tweak the settings a little from standard and it works a treat with great quality.
