I loaded up my m3u list I'd saved from when I blasted Windows XP into oblivion, and all is well except for one thing:

It won't go into directories to read songs, and will skip down the list until it finds a file in the same directory as the playlist file. Totem works just fine, but Totem doesn't play .wma (and I have some lossless CD rips I want to hear).

[edit]
I figured it out. The paths were, for example, 311\Blue\01.mp3, so I whipped out sed and converted all the \'s to /'s and now it works. ILY notnamed. Mods can delete, or preferably lock to allow future generations to be enlightened.

[edit2]
Ugg, now it exits on trying to play the lossless WMA files, but plays literally everything else fine. Any ideas?

Beep Media Player does the same thing! ahhhhhh!!!!

I'm not sure XMMS can handle WMA lossless... I assume you've installed some sort of codec pack (using something like Automatix if you're on *buntu) right? From a quick Google, XMMS seems to handle regular WMA fine, but anything lossless it can't handle. I'd look into converting them to FLAC. You could try playing them in VLC or Totem or something.

the file location in the playlist must be like this
"/home/username/XXXXXXXXXXX"

the XXXXXXX is the directory and the file name.

I already figured out that since I'd brought the playlist from Winamp, it was following Windows directory structure. Just a quick 'sed' and it was fixed.

My main issue now is the LWMA playback. I'm in the process of finding a good LWMA>FLAC converter. Effing dependencies!!:L!Jho1yb!(
