There was a case some time ago where the portugese police allegedly brought in a mother of a missing child - because the prolonged case was reflecting badly on them - This case being very much in the media limelight - i wouldnt be at all suprised if this was again the case.

As to the media - I agree they should drop the case - it would solve a few problems, and would allow news to get on to (sorry to say it) more important issues.

Where would the portugese police have got madelines DNA from without it being all over the media already ?? She's not even a national, they couldn't use any of their resources to plant that evidence. And that's what juries base decisions on, evidence; not fear or feeling .... if it gets to a court and that DNA evidence is found to be legal, they've had it ...

Yeah, I keep saying in any other case that DNA would be conclusive evidence that they did it.. it's just becuase this one's been blown up by the media they take longer to get to their conclusions - the portuguese police don't want to look foolish.

She scrambled her way back after a tremendous defeat of her kindappers, tracked down the closest car which just happened to be her parents (she did not know this). She climbed into the boot and slammed it shut, but hit her fingers and started bleeding and started to cry - this alerted her kidnappers who were looking for her and went and took her back, and tied her up even more.

Don't worry about the media Colin. They were just using Madeline as filler until "real" news about Britney Spears was made available. It's going to subside a bit now.
