Dotster is now selling .asia domains! Here is the email I got from them:

Expected to be wildly popular and one of the web's most desirable addresses, .ASIA is the latest new Top Level Domain (TLD) extension. Sunrise Registrations at Dotster are now open.

A .ASIA domain functions as your portal to the Asian market and many of the world's fastest growing economies. Registering the .ASIA version of your domains complements and expands the reach of your current websites.

The term "ASIA" is one of the Internet's most searched for terms. A .ASIA domain gives you access to this region's hundreds of millions of Internet users and provides an enormous channel through which to expand your business.

Secure and protect your company's brand now by registering the .ASIA version of your trademarks during our first Sunrise registration period.

Sunrise registrations are limited to government entities and trademark owners, and you must have a presence in one of the ICANN designated Asia/Pacific countries.

Learn about the .ASIA registration requirements, auction details, and more here.

I live in Asia.
But I prefer the regulars(.com .net .org) than this crazy new domain.

Just another way to make millions off of scaring Asian business owners into buying a .asia domain to prevent domain squatters.

It's too damn easy for some people to make money in this World, and too damn difficult for others like myself. This just aint fair! ...I quit!

I just want .xxx domains to replace all the porn sites with.. why do they keep making crappy tld's?
.xxx needs to be made.. and porn sites need to be banned from .com .net .org domains.
This has nothing to do with .asia.. just saying they are wasting time making yet more crappy tlds.
Alley You sound like your having a i hate life moment there lol.
What you say is true though.. Its just a crappy excuess to get money. its not mfor the greater good of the world or anything.

Yeah, that would probably be a good thing as then you could block all .xxx domains to keep the kids out.

In a perfect world maybe. For the record, I agree that pornography websites should be mandated to use the .xxx domains. But we don't live in a perfect world, and the Internet has no laws internationally that can be enforced. If it worked that way, we wouldn't have spammers.

Now, if we made the TLD .x instead of .xxx, more porn sites may be abt to go that route since it's shorter, but still very difficult to enforce.

Well, Robert, you've got to remember that in the end it all routes back to ICANN.. which is in the USA. I doubt it'd be that hard to enforce ;)

I dont know really... ICANN allow many warez groups to own domains etc... If the USA had any control over ICANN they defently wouldnt allow warez groups to own/use domains
But, Like you say if ICANN wanted to do things right.. they could! I just dont think the US has much control over them.
