The eBay seller rules are clearly define when you sign the agreement. If you don't agree with how they do things, don't use them.

Thats how they make their money. You pay to place an advert, plus pay a% of the final sale value.
If you'd put an advertisement in a newspaper, would you call them and ask for a refund if your thing didnt sell?

You can cancel you credit card, but then they'll just place you into collections, and ---- your credit history. Been there ;)

They have no info on me ;-). If I paid to place an advert in a newspaper for 2 Tivos and one sold then fell through, I could still the two through the newspaper without an additional fee. (in the same issue)

And since paypal owns ebay they still got your info :)
Just accept that 5$ loss and move on, nothing you can do about it.

Except perhaps create TheFreeEbay.com :p

When your $5,000 in the whole... yeah its .1% more debt. But STILL! They still suck. to sell a $250 item, they charge $14ish.

You were totally unprofessional and immature to that CSR rep, who has no control over ebay's policies or procedures. Completely rude and disrespectful.

Sounds like you need to cancel your ebay account since you have no idea ebay works. It's folks like you that cause our rates to keep going up because ya'll don't take the time to actually read the rules and agreement set forth by ebay when you sign up.

Sure. Next time just get on your roof and start a bid war going with passers by. That'd be free ;).
