I've seen some people saying stuff about it...
Just wondering how everyone feels.
Does Climate Change exist?

Yes, but I don't believe humans are responsible for 100% of global warming.
I say it's natural hot/cold cycles.

I personally think its that, combined with the human race's careless disregard for this planet.
I don't think selling your car or not heating your house is a good way to fix it, but I think people need to make small choices... like CFL light bulbs, and buying less plastic products... crap like that.

I dont think its a big problem.. Its to late to fix it, It should of been fixed over 50 years ago. Why do humans wait for there to be a problem befor they fix it?? We knew 20+ years ago this problem was comming, why did we wait untill it was apon us?

We think if it's ignored it'll go away.

I vote that it's cycles. I believe humans and animals have the same effect on the earth as sticking 100 people into a room has on the temperature of that room. It's the fact that as living creatures each body puts out thousands of calories of heat. Take away life on the planet, and it's temperature will go back down.

It's a scam.

It's a scam? Who on earth would benifit from it?
And sure, there has been tons of hot and cold cycles, but never any as high CO2 as todays.
heymrdj, not sure if you were serious or not but that was pretty funny :p

The billions of dollars going to "green" companies, like the ones building solar houses and insulation panels as thick as the walls of Fort Knox.
CO2 has been higher in the past.
No, I was serious. It's as legitimate of a theory going around as "Global Warming."

Sure, CO2 HAS been more in the past, but only billions and billions of years ago.
And the oil etc companies would profit way more if they proved it wrong, seeing as they easily have the funds available to proove that it is wrong if it was, why don't they just do that? Simple, because it's not wrong.
and.. lol!

All I know is I haven't had a real winter in Calgary in about three years. Something is causing that, and it's not just my imagination.

Companies selling Climate Change friendly products.
P.S. I'm joking, I'm not that close minded.

For anyone interested in the global warming topic please view the video "The Great Global Warming Swindle"
It is a great summary of the topic and was endorsed by my university's chairman of the Geology Department.

It's not up for debate, it does exist and it is mostly down to humans anyone who thinks otherwise is ignorant.

The Great Global Warming Swindle (http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2007/03/swindled/) have been debunked even by some of the scientists who were used as sources in it, so I wouldn't trust anything in that one. "What we now have is an out-and-out propaganda piece, in which there is not even a gesture toward balance or explanation of why many of the extended inferences drawn in the film are not widely accepted by the scientific community." says one of the scientists who the film used as a source in a response to that movie.

Yeah, it's most definitely happening, but I ain't sure if us humans can solve the problem in time.

That itself is quite ignorant.
Another ignorant assumption is that we are living in the ideal climate right now and any change will be apocoalyptic. In fact, in the past before there were SUVs, the earth was warmer and people flourished and warmth was associated with great wealth and abundance.
We simply do not know if a warmer earth will have benefits for humans or other species. And if some species die off or become extinct, who is to say that's a bad thing too? It's all part of the natural life cycle. If every species that has ever existed was preserved and still existed today we probably would not exist today or have had the opportunity to evolve the way we did.
I personally believe the sun causes changes in climate as it has played a major role for billions of years. I do not believe suburban Yuppies driving SUVs and a few factories can outweigh the impact of the sun and cosmos which are infinitley more powerful.
Now given all that, I do support efforts to cut pollution and the impact industry and man has on the QUALITY of the air as that has direct and measurable health effects. I do NOT, however, believe for one second that people are causing global warming.
Consensus is not science. I don't care what portion of scientists believe this theory (even though it is NOT an overwhelming majority, and even many scientists who were part of the IPCC also disagree with the conclusion). In the middle ages everyone believed the earth was flat - and the consensus on that did not make it true. Today's "consensus" on Global Warming, if one pretends that such consensus exists in the scientific community - doesn't make it true either.

Gosh Conscript! You're right, how could I ever think that the global warming problem was ultimately down to some SUVs and a couple of factories? That pretty much raps up all the things that pollute CO2!

October 19th, 2007, 14:04
Yeah, CO2, which represents a TINY fraction of all "greenhouse" gasses.
And being a pollutant? CO2 is NOT a pollutant. It is an essential gas necessary for life to exist.
krakjoe
October 19th, 2007, 14:39
If you can't tell for yourself that the climate is changing that can only be put down to ignorance.
There's nothing natural about the amount of pollutants we pump into the air, nothing natural at all ... co2 is an essential but still poisonous gas

I think they have actually, because of all the extra cows us humans eat - think how many there must be - obviously the gases are going to be a lot, lot more.
But nowhere near the other affects.
