I had a look and the 'aboutus' page is actually illegal in the UK - that was before I even got to read anything!

Oh feck - now I've seen the carbon neutral part!
When we learned that running DreamHost generated as much carbon dioxide as 545 average-size homes we realized we had to do something to neutralize our emissions
Sorry prove it!

Ummm. Sorry but I am concerned here. Like, when I saw DreamHost or heard of them at first, I thought, Ok they must be a huge company. But like, let's be honest. They are KIDS! http://www.dreamhost.com/aboutus-profiles.html

That is a fake page :) Some of the real Dreamhost staff can be seen:

eh... I have had an excellent working relationship with many from Dreamhost over the years and they deliver exactly what they offer. They are young....Call em kids or not, they are hosting 600,000+ (http://www.webhosting.info/webhosts/reports/total_domains/DREAMHOST.COM) domains and been in business over 10 years (http://blog.dreamhost.com/2007/09/24/are-you-older-than-a-fifth-grader/) and in the top 15 largest hosts in the world (http://www.webhosting.info/webhosts/tophosts/global/). You don't do that by being dishonest. Say what you want, but I hold the highest respect for the Dreamhost Team...yeah and Josh too :P
I still hold my personal account with them and as I have said many times over. I fully utilize every drop of space and bandwidth they provide me and I have never had a single complaint or threat against my account in the 3 yrs I have been with them.
Most of the complaints you will find is back when they measured CPU time and people were suspended for it. That has since been lifted a couple years back and there are far less complaints to be found now days.

So your saying their okay with an ad like this...
Disk Storage at signup 500 GB - Automatically Increases Weekly By: 2 GB
Monthly Bandwidth at signup 5.0 TB - Automatically Increases Weekly By: 40 GB
From the above I would not take any of their numbers as real!

Some call it overselling, others a good marketing niche, I think its both - and the truth is that if you (as host) can afford to offer such an offers then you are OK because there always will be happy and not that happy customers and it won't be because of the numbers and 0's you are selling but because of the service provided.
Good Luck!

I don't know about any other host, but except servage. Actually, when you transfer 5 GB actually, the Control Panel should show up as 100 or few more GBs.
I think DH uses same niche...

fcolor you'd be better off out of threads like this, and this http://www.freewebspace.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2197584
Your own sites record does not smack of honesty to the client.

Hi,
I actually replied and to the other thread you mentioned.
Yes, I have the right because we do not oversell at all.
Yes, we are more than honest to our clients, you will not find any confusing or misleading words.
There are no hidden fees or obligatory contract details shown with "*" at the bottom.
We do support our clients 24/7/365....just pick an hour and a day and check for yourself.
Please always check before writing....it is really not fair to act like this. Yes, its a forum and everyone can write almost whatever he wants but we are not in business from yesterday and if you know this you better showing the same respect as the others have.

DH doesn't have this same issue. Believe me, you can read the DH forums...Either way - I am not here to defend another hosting company any further. I will just say that they have been excellent for me and the many many open source projects that I use their services for mirroring.

That's fair enough. Like, if they have their money made and are as big as they seem, then why not?

It’s $10.95/month, but if you prepay for 1 year it’s $9.95/month, 2 years it’s $8.95/month, 3 years it’s $7.95/month, 5 years it’s $6.95/month, and 10 years it’s $5.95/month! There may be a crazy 777-ish promo code too (for new customers) if you look around.
TEN YEARS?
Who would pay for ten years in advance?
I dunno, but at least we’ve finally shown we can do ten years!
Happy Hosting!
P.S. And, when you renew in 2017 you’ll (most definitely) be up to 12.5 PB of storage and bandwidth for $1.95/month!
