Need help in web site

I need help with how to make a web template design. I know HTML and CSS. I can use Dreamweaver and I have a host. I just want to find out how to make my own template. I have been searching the web for a decent guide for related to web design free templates and i have download some Free Templates form Web Design Company`s website,but found none. Can someone please point me in the right direction.

use a graphics software to design a layout, such as the nav bar, logos, buttons, boxes ect. and then cut this images out save them individually use css to place the images and colors where you need and text styles and bingo! thats about it if you want to build a html / css site that can look great.

If you want tips on how to design, i would look at designing tutorials like for example: how to make web 2.0 buttons. stuff like that and follow how they do it. depends on what graphics software you want to use. if you use GIMP visit www.gimp-tutorials.net they have on there how to design a website template
