Hello, I am undergoing some research on what YOU would like to give in return for hosting. I would really appreciate it if you could answer this question in the poll and reply why you have chosen that option.

Quick Scenario
You are looking for free shared hosting and not willing to pay any cash, yet you are willing to give something in return. At this moment, you do not care how much Bandwidth or Storage you are receiving.

What would you give in return?

A) Ads
You will have an advertisement forced at the footer of your site on all pages.

B) Posting
You will need to make certain amount of posts per month on a forum.

C) Header Frame
You will have a frame at the top of your site which will overlap your site if you scroll down too.

D) Footer Frame
You will have a frame at the bottom of your site which will overlap your site if you scroll down too.

After you have voted on the poll, please reply why you have made that option.

Hmmm, I don't see a poll.

Anyway, on a personal basis, I think all four are unacceptable choices. As a free hosting user, I wouldn't want to use a host with any such constraints, and as a free host operator, I do not impose such restraints on my users - I have found that ads on my own site are more than enough to pay to operate my service.

I couldn't post a poll, sorry. Anyhow, I would really appreciate it if more people take part.

Footer frame.

Its out of the way and not too obvious, but still provides the advertising you need without wrecking the look of the hosted site.

Thats the problem with most advertising, not the fact there is advertisments, but the placement. .TK for example have the most atrocious headers :/

yet you are willing to give something in return.
Something thats making the Scenario feel unreal to me :P
Anyway I would rather do something like B) Posting

I think the whole point of providing FREE hosting is that there is nothing to pay/return/do.. That's why it's free? ;)

I personally would prefer either ads or posting. Furthermore, if I make any revenue from my site, I'm willing to share part of it with the host for the service they so kindly provided for free.

As a free hostee, I prefer ads. People really need to design their website to accommodate an ad of some sort.

Banners that hover over the site (I think thats what you mean) are too intrusive, and become an eyesore.

Posting + Clicking their ads say 2 times a day without them asking

No :) It's free because you do not have to part with your cash.

I wonder if free web hosting provider do not need no ads no clicks no posting - you will lose everything. So what would you do in this case: look for the new free web hosting or move to the paid one?

I'd choose posting definitely, don't like the idea of having their ads at my site.

nothing in the world is free, so i dont see the point having a freehost without any ads.

I prefer banner ads that are standard ad sizes, i hate popups and frame ads or being forced to post useless posts in a forum.

This isn't advertising for your company, it's a poll/question. He asked what you would give of the four choices, not what you do on your personal site.

Not to mention, you'll hit that certain point where your own ads aren't able to cover the cost, I promise.
