In a matter of an hour, my site went from up to gone. It can't be found, and according to Cpanel, all my files are gone, but my forum's SQL databse is still intact, thank God. Anyone else having this problem? Anyone know what's up?
Roland is NOWEHRE to be found.

Wow. Lucky you, I know some people have been waiting 7+ days (and are still waiting) for urgent problems/upgrades.

You might be the only one though, we seem to be getting differing stories.
I do hope he sorts the absence out as he's being crushed at the moment due to it.
Where are his 'staff' during this? I developed a heart condition a few years ago and hosting slipped during my absence but the guys doing support for me went all out on no pay to make sure the clients were okay and reputation didn't slip.
Even if one of his guys tried it would make a difference.
If anyone effected by problems needs help on a temp basis contact me and I'll see what I can do (obviously no free servers), but in fairness Roland was always great with me and I hate seeing this deteriorate further.

Will we ever hear the end of this friggin 'Jewlzk'?
When there's no uptime, you need support. When there's no support, there's no service. When there's no service and you paid for it, that is a scam.
And all the personal reasons or family matters or illness is no excuse. It's a business.

I just got this response from Aldridge, via a Jewlzk support ticket:
There was an attack against the server that your site is hosted on last night and they succeeded in destroying some customer webcontent before I discovered them and interviened and stopped them..home directory content is currently being recovered from an older offline backup. this is a very time consuming process but as I recover a site's home directory content it is being restored to it's proper location and goes live again. This proces is likely to take quite a number of hours. Please bear with us while we recover your content for you.....

Edwin has a load to say when pushed - not all accurate.
For a Sr. (assuming senior) title his advice is a bit iffy and states 'he' discovered it.
Jeez this should serve as a good indication as to Aldridge.
I didn't mention this before as it was unwarded but when our shared server that was provided through above, there were multiple problems, including DNS/IP (the most immediate for our clients), really bad speed throttling which fitted with their percentile rules (really bad ones), and for some strange reason software changes including a PERL version reversion (as in it went back about 2 versions). I do not trust that DC in any way.
At last I can answer due to the question/wording as it does not break a promise I made :D phew
Oh and there is more.

Wait. You can't do anything else anyways. They are restoring offsite backups but you don't know yet when they were dated. I guess you are stuck with that. It is very sad to hear this and I do hope you get a recent backup restored.

It's because your SQL database still remained, while it was your files that got deleted.

I'm saying that your SQL, contains all your post/threads and board information on your IPB forum. Though if you are in dire need to upload a more recent backup of your SQL, then that's your choice, I don't want to make you do something, which can potentially cause harm; if you don't know how to do it. ;) Though I was just generally answering you why you would have still have the most recent posts. Sorry if I've caused any confusion, though you do have a very nice website. :)

I appreciate it. A question though: Let's say I get the board up and running but the "older" backup they're using to restore my files is from a month or two ago. Couldn't I just download my current SQL DB and upload that to bring it to current?

If you are looking for webhosting, I would suggest you look around the offers forum, Or contact Eclouds, Or Galaxy-Solutions on this forum if you are looking for VPS/Dedicated. I wouldn't personally take hosting from a Jewlzk customer at the moment, Due to all of these problems ;)

Yes, that would be correct, as your SQL DB contains all your posts and all information on your forum, so it doesn't really matter how old the files are, unless you have added things to the template files. However I don't think that is necessary, seeing as you have your 'current' SQL DB already in affect.

Even if you have a dedicated server with JewlzK, why are you safe? What if something does wrong with your server? Or the connection gets shut down? With no one around to assist you, I would be worried.
If I was in that situation, I would make sure I was making hourly backups off of the network.

Thanks for all the advice, folks. First of all, I do not offer hosting, except to the clients of my regular day business :) Too many headaches. I want enough clients to pay for my server, and that is plenty! I am happy hosting my few clients, and throwing some free stuff to non-profits and charities.
Second, I do not have a server with Jewlzk at this point. I have recently moved, and was thinking of moving even before the DC move that Jewlzk had, to be closer geographically to my client base routing wise. The DC problems just made that a little quicker than I had anticipated.
