Hello there! Would you mind me sharing your experience with dedicated server providing. Pros and cons please. What is ROI period (estemated)?

How are you doing this? Are reselling or sending servers off for colocation? ROI should be anywhere 5-24 months depending on your goals and purpose.

Are you looking for information as a customer or as a person looking to offer/sell dedicated, or information from dedicated server providers?

You'd need to settle on whether your going leased or colo, and would it only be complete servers sold or would they be split into VPS/hosting.

For dedicated servers it is as rule around 18-36 month (depends on server configuration).

It's a big move that requires a great investor. Up until my previous company, I did not have the chance to see the difficulty of managing and operating owned hardware. It's more work and quite expensive, but pays off in the long run. Also, you don't want to be reselling services.
Just my thoughts.

It's a tough market - and you have to have alot of different niche's to compete.
I started by offering dedicated servers privately with business customers until i could build up enough savings to start purchasing and expanding into the e-business.
You have alot more flexibility with owned hardware aswell, not just flexibility, but control aswell.

I provide dedicated server management. Our customers are happy with our service. It is much cheaper to buy server management 24-7 by an established team then to do it youself.

It's cheaper to buy upfront a stock of servers or build them yourself. We have a contract with HP and just lease our boxes / exchange every 2 years. We pay around $1400 per server per year but they provide us hands-on 4 hour turnaround.
Otherwise you can go a route like: http://www.netdepot.com/hosting.php
NetDepot out of GNAX - lease to own. Good way to start out without being under a contract.

Your best bet will be if you have a good budget, then get one server upfront and colocate it. And if you do not have a very high budget go with renting out servers.

But you do it only for your customers...

Dedicated reselling isn't an easy thing. To start it you must have experience in this sphere. I think you may try dedicated reselling from the company, say ServerPoint.com, I know they provide it and see how everything will go on. And then start providing it yourself.
