I use a lot of my CPU with Vista and it pops up anywhere from 19% to 100% and I have 2gb ram using 53% ram at most times.
Intel Celeron M Processor (1.60GHz)
2gb RAM
Whats the cheapest one I can get as an upgrade and where do you suggest I get it?
BW I have an Insperon B130

I got a Pentium D 2.6gHz with motherboard for about $300 CAD, that was a good deal. Look at local computer shops (not the big name stores) and you'll find good deals. Not mom and pop shops, but not Futureshop.

Have a look over at pricewatch.com they always list some amazing deals. I have personally used there service for a few years now and its nothing short of amazing.

Swap to an AMD and you'll love it. :) Especially the better quality for cheaper price. :D

AMD's are cheaper but not better. Not by a long shot.

Oh, yes they are. :) A single-core AMD outdoes even a dual-core Intel. :) Its been proven by many ratings and reviews. Plus, you can't beat the price.

This chart proves you wrong in many ways.

That is from November 23, 2005 (Pentium D processors).
Intel is by far the better processor at the moment.

AMD's aren't better quality, they're actually a foreign competitor. They are still good quality. They were cheaper at one point, but the core 2 duo is beating all of AMD's chips as far as specs and price.

I'd suggest a Quad Core AMD Phenom, they aren't bad pricewise and they're great processors.

Are you on a laptop?
Yes. a Insperon B130 is a laptop. Its a few years old, and Dell no longer sells these.

Actually, they sell them, but you have to backorder or special request them or the parts for em.

How are they a foreign competitor ?
Their corporate HQ is in California, the same state as Intels.
I don't want to turn this into a this vs that thread, so please lets not go there.
However, depending on its application and the CPU used the core 2 duo will not always beat out every AMD chip made. As an example, from the same ref source as bigperm used, I came up with this chart that shows price for performance its AMD.

That is price/performance, I never said AMD's aren't cheap. I'm saying they aren't as good.
Also, 90nm process versus 60nm process, Intel's draw less power and therefore generate less heat than AMD's. Also 45nm phenom's are coming out soon.

Wow, that link just proves my theory. There are idiots out there who think they know computers, lol. AMDs are overclocking processors. You can overclock it an AMD to double its normal/stock processing power and not have any problems. But, with overclocking, it generates a lot of heat. Therefore, you never stick with the stock CPU Heatsink and Fan. Thats why Intel's are cooler than AMDs, most AMDs are a bit overclocked from factory, but not by much. Only a user who buys the chip can bring out the full potential of an AMD.
To those who think the latest Quad-core AMD is slow, you know nothing of computers. I've fried more Intel chips than AMD when overclocking.

Oh man. I am too tired to tell you how retarded this response is, however the 'lol' is a contributing factor.
Also 'overclocked from the factory' is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.
lol.
Also, read this and get back to me.

I was replying to this quote. I was simply using the same ref source as yours, clearly nothing else.

AMDs have advantages and downsides...I am an AMD fan because of their price. Many reviews will tell you that AMDs no longer out perform their Intel counterparts; however, they are still more affordable.
AMD CPUs have a different architecture then Intel CPU and having a higher temperature is a part of this difference. Being knowledgeable about computer means understanding both sides of the story and not being stubborn and knowing what is best for a given situation. Being uber hard core about one brand or product while being completely blind to the features and abilities of competing products or brand is just being naive.

for gods sake do NOT put a core duo in a laptop that is slightly old.
on a macbook pro here, duel core and belive me this thing gets hot hot hot, and this is specially designed to handle the heat, it would kill your laptop.
I'm not saying duel core is bad but you need to accept your hardwares limitations.
My last laptop has a athlon 64 (not that mobile stuff either;) ) and it ran fantastically, heat was not an issue. (Not the same amount of power, but it did work well)

Love it how I ask for recomendations and it turns into an argument. This forums never bores me! lol
Anyways thanks for the suggestions, and the info about not putting a core 2 duo in a slightly old laptop.
If anybody can link me to rather cheap but good Processors that will work in an Inspiron B130, then that would be great!

I don't recommend just putting in a new cpu unless you know exactly what you are doing.
It doesn't sound like you do.

Knowing what socket you have will narrow your choices considerably.
