View Full Version : How long would YOU wait?

We recently switched server providers to get better support, and a better deal on a server. We specifically chose this company because they double the ram on the server.

So, we got a server with 2gb of ram, which should be upgraded to 4gb. After we ordered the server... We had intense pressure to get the server immediately, and expressed that to the staff. We were treated well, and put on a server that was actually for a another customer of theirs :(. That server only had 1gb of ram installed, and we were told it'd have another 3 added within a week. Every time I asked him about it, it was always... "within a week." It's now been a month, and the server provider has said that they'll add the ram after all of their orders are done. They can accommodate new customers, but not existing ones?

Is it wrong for me to feel like we're being pushed aside and not taken care of? I'm extremely greatful that we got into a server quickly, but I can't take that kind of abuse.

The situation is being resolved, and I won't specify the provider's name since I really do like them.... but I still have to ask.

How long would you wait for ram upgrades that you're already paying for? Is it wrong for me to feel angered?

Well I have a server with BURSTNET/Nocster and It took them 1 month for ram upgrades... It was probably because they were quite busy with their sale, But I still think it could've been done faster.

After about a month, I would consider ditching the provider if I was you, Because if you happen to need an urgent upgrade for some reason (Like running out of HDD space) Then you would be stuffed.

I don't think it's wrong to be angry. They specified they would give you a certain amount, And that's what you should get.

The thing I don't quite understand, Is why were you downgraded from 2GB to 1GB :p Could you clarify that :)

Basically, we needed the server immediately, and after 24 hours of setup, they said it would be within the next 24 hours, and we didn't have that long.... so they moved us to a server that had just been set up for another customer (literally taking his server, and I feel bad about that)... but that server only had 1gb of ram installed.

I personally would NOT wait that long. If i was you i would ask for a partial refund seen as you are paying for 4GB and are only getting the 1GB.

Its not right that they took the other guys server from right under him too. Just think, if you was going to have to wait 24 hours, he might have had to wait 48...

HW I have had the same issues with them -- got the server, they are very horrible on installing my 2nd harddrive. Friendly, but they are VERY slow with getting me anything.

I bet you're regretting moving from your server with us, eh? I don't recall a time when support wasn't there for you. Sometimes cheaper, isn't better.

UtCrazy I do agree with you on cheaper isn't better, but for some people, they NEED cheaper. In my case, the only reason why I am keeping my server with said company is because I don't need their support, I have my own sysadmin team that does everything for me. As long as I get what I payed for, I am fine with it.

Honestly, comparing my experiences with this provider to all the others we've been with, cheaper is better this time. The only downside so far has been the RAM. So no, I don't regret switching, the server is excellent, and the full management is excellent. The reason behind the slow upgrades is that they're having so many new orders that they delayed the upgrades. I'm a lot less pissed off than when I was writing it.

The owner of the company is making it right with us though, and as long as the upgrades are done by the time he promised, I won't be angered.

I realized today... that for the price we're getting the server for, with ALL the excellent perks they give you... It's not worth it for me to stress over it, since switching providers would actually cost us an extra $40 /month.

I'm still going to be firm about the upgrades, because it's still ridiculous, but we're being treated well enough that I'm not too concerned about it.

CS-Skylar - You should talk with them and get it sorted out. They're understanding, but you have to realize that with a flood of new orders, they DO need to get those taken care of.

I agree about the flood of orders, but they should be dealing with existing customers first, over the new customers. If they have time to setup new servers, then they should be able to do the same for existing customers.

I have waited a WEEK for a WHMCS LICENSE.. still waiting on it.
i've been firm about getting it too. and they just keep saying "tomorrow" (that was 3 days ago)

Doesn't sound look good business, especially for a license that would take only a few minutes to obtain.

We got our WHMCS license the next day. Their priorities are a little off though, that seems obvious. Without supporting your customers, you might as well kiss your business goodbye.

Exactly. That's why you always have to have other server and support service in reserve to quick move.

YGWYPF That simple.

If I was told by my server provider that I would have RAM installed within a week, I would be expecting it within 7 days, not a month.
If you want fast sufficient services, spend the money on it. It's that simple.

Okay.... I dont meant to put this in a bad way... But I guarantee none of you could match the deal I'm getting, even with only 1gb of ram.... So even without the other 3 gigs of ram, I am getting more than what I'm paying for...

I just want to be getting what I was offered, and what I was promised.

The length of time you've waited is rediculous. You do get what you pay for but for something as simple as adding extra RAM, I can't believe you're fine with the amount of time it's taking. It took less time to get a custom server set up.

I guess you can guarantee no one can match your deal, others care about their customers and because of that, it will cost more. Hopefully you'll think the same some day.

Hmmm.... I'll have to talk with Jeffrey about this.

He actually replys to your tickets? I have no other way of contacting him..Im trying to find a phone number or something.

I actually seem to be the one that got the most of my server that I payed for.

I dont make tickets.... They're a waste of time. I also don't talk to reps on live help, its not my style. Basically, I use MSN to talk to people, and that's all. I don't like the formal nature of tickets or live help.

I honestly wouldn't have waited anymore than 48 hours, considering it's a weekday.

Time is money.

I would expect setup & upgrades to be done within 3 working days.

Zaxihosting gives strong words of advice, You get what you pay. Too true !!!

The fastest way to get in touch and get what you ordered should be to contact them over the phone. Such an upgrade probably needed to be done upon registration with them as this was arranged before you moved to them, so its strange they gave you different server config. You may either ask for partial refund as compensation or seek other type of problem salvation.

Good Luck!
