I posted a small comment in a hosting ad thread made by a friend of mine, iHubNet, but my comment disappeared immediately after posting. I tried to post something in another ad thread thinking it was just a strange error, but it happened again and then again. I tried another section of the forum and my reply again disappeared. What's going on?
Hopefully this thread will show up :-/

Hi.
All new posts from new members are moderated until you reach a certain amount of posts. This is to protect our community from Spammers etc.
If you point us to the threads you speak of where your posts have disappeared, I will take a look for you.

Dan, what's the limit until people's posts auto-appear? Because if I remember, all mine from when I 1st joined appear, and helped, I guess.

could i suggest implementing a banner at the top for users whos posts will be moderated explaining this? clearly none of these people are reading these posts.

Hey,
When someone is posting a request the idea is to get in there straight away with an offer, at the moment I can not do this when I need to.

You can still do it, just might take a while for a moderator to make it live.

Really, When people posts these dont they see the other 20 odd topics with the same thing.
A read over them would surely help out, if it still fails a look over the rules which should be done in the first place most definetly will.

I don't know to be honest.
All I know is you have to have a certain amount of posts and be a member for more than one day I think.

please, for goodness sake, just have a message at the top that is displayed to all "newbies" that explains this. would save a lot of trouble.

How many new members actually read the rules though? Yeah, it would be common sense to read the rules when they see that their first post is not showing up; however, it seems there is a lack of common sense within some of the new members. I am not trying to be rude or anything, but reality is cruel. ;)

Lack of common sense is not limited to new users ;)

The issue at hand only applies to new members.
But yes, I agree with you on that point. I myself am a fine example of that. ;)

New members also get a Welcome email letting them know that the first couple of posts will be moderated.

Was that put into effect long ago or just recently? If it has always been that way, then I suppose no one really reads the welcome email. If you have just started that, then hopefully the new members read their welcome emails.

I will admit now I totally ignored the forum rules at 1st, and never read them. Not long ago had a read through them and worked out I haven't broken a single rule for a year :D
Still think though Jan/Peo we should have a message appearing for the 1st 20posts for each new member saying their posts will be moderated.

I did not read the rules when I first joined too. I was only 12 at that time and my sole purpose was to get people to review my site. ;)
