I have been looking around, and need to decide on a dedicated server for a forum site I am designing.
I am looking on the cheap side, cause I do not know how popular the site will be to start. I only need at most 10Gb of bandwidth.

The ones I am considering are:

4Webspace.com (RAQ3)
$0 setup/$99 month

Burst.net (400mhz)
$99.95 setup/$99.95 per month
($149.95 after 3 months)

Dialtoneinternet.com (RAQ3)
$0 setup/$99 month
($200+ after 3 months)

Cheapservers.net (633mhz)
$99 setup/$99 month

Cheapservers has the best deal I think for what they are offering, but I want a company that has been around awhile and is alot larger. I am leaning towards the burst.net offer, because I am not sure how well a RAQ will handle the server load.

What do you people think?
I am open to recommendations, but please refine them to larger companies only, that have been in business 2 years atleast.

Thank you for your assistance

Hello
Cheapservers and 4Webspace are both highly respected companies.

Go over to http://www.webhostingtalk.com/ and do a search on user comment there, I think you will be surprised!

(No affilliation with either company)

WHT must be moving or something.
I cant access the entire site
No note on the page so maybe Chicken can enlighten us with details?

Unfortunately the details are ugly. Matt moved it to his NT server at DN, but it seems that the server isn't doing so well, or is unable to handle the load. It is about 3-4 am where he is, so I don't even know if he knows that the board is doing so terribly terrible.

Quite a pity, but there's nothing I can do about it. It needs to be moved onto something more stable. I just got a more powerful RaQ4 at tera, and maybe it can rest there until a final choice is made.

*sigh*

Arcadia,

We do offer a full 30 day money back guarantee on our services. So you can feel pretty safe giving our $99.95 server special a try.

Warm Regards,

I've been with Dialtone for 11 months now, they've always been solid. Even at 4AM this Sunday morning my server took a dive and they were on top of things. Their network is crazy fast, but they aren't the cheapest. Looks like all four you mentioned are great hosts.

Arcadia- Racklocation.com uses servers they build (server site is pogolinux.com) and colocates them at dialtoneinternet. They have some pretty competitive pricing (you might want to check out and add them to that list).

Just an alternative to dialtone itself while still remaining in the NOC. :)

Oh and btw RaQ's are great servers, one handled 30 million hits in a day I believe.

Just to report in on what happened;
I did go ahead and order the burst.net $99 deal. I decideed to go that route after i had about a 30 minute discussion with one of their sales guys. The deal was really to good to pass up with the offer. They set me up my server the same day and walked me thru the basics of how to use it. So far so good. I'll keep you updated on how it works out. So far I am happy though. We'll see what happens if I really have a problem though.
