Has anyone used this host? What do they think of them? I am thinking of using their professional package.

Now arent your previous recommendations false?

But my personal opinion is they bought the award they got from .net mag which i ceased reading because they are powered by advertisers money rather than subscribers money. They investigate uk2.net on one email complaint and give it a big spread on the website. they get thousands of emails and phone calls about Fasthosts one of there major advertisers and they all but ignore it. So the award in my opinion is a false one since oneandone also have a large advertisement in .net.

They also put banners on your website which they dont mention when you sign up.

They have a non-existant support team.

40,000 MB monthly traffic for £16.99 a month give me a break.

oneandone offer 40 GB data-transfer and 600 MB of webspace for £16.99 per month

You cannot exceed the limit ....

40 GB for £16.99 per month with gbits of bandwidth is very possible

Technics

Tell me where they make any money on that plan.

I really can't see whats so bad about oneandone if they have registered over 2 million domain names. Usually a host that big earns its amount of customers.

Technics
March 22nd, 2002, 18:24
And how do you account for the poor service providers like FastHosts and Webfusion?

cheatpark
March 22nd, 2002, 18:25
What do you mean by them being poor service providers? What do they do?

Technics

FastHosts - Lie about bandwidth. never answer support emails have you on hold for 45 minutes then tell you that they cannot sort the problem.

WebFusion - Useless service alround, Support is lousy and they hold domains hostage.

------

oneandone, Webfusion and fasthosts all put these big glossy ad's in magazines and pry on users who are novices.

So basically I shouldn't use oneandone? I need a host that offer php and mysql, 10gb bandwidth and at least 500mb space. Do you know any good ones?

I heard myacen are now slow because they are putting too many members on their servers. I'm not sure if this is true but someone told me this.

http://www.kdawebservices.com/vhost/plans/k500

has 500MB Space and 15,000 MB Bandwidth a month. Gives you the option to host multiple domains as well.

I've been hosted with them for 15 months now i dont have any complaints, Technical Support is fast and friendly.

Only a few minutes ago i was talking to Karl on yahoo to have him change my dns. Now for a friday night and a UK company that is out of this world because the norm here is to do 9 till 5 and sod the other hours of the day :D

I can afford http://www.joshuainternet.com and http://www.puple-paw.co.uk . The others are too expensive for me. Which one would you recommend out of them two?

Technics
March 22nd, 2002, 18:55
purple-paw have a faster turn around on support, however i find joshuainternet.com to have a faster connection rate.

Depends what you need most support or speed i guess. Josuhainternet answered all my questions within 24 hours of each email.

I'm not too bothered about support as long as I won't need it much. I shouldn't need it as I know how to work most things. Are there any other hosts you could recommend which I should be aware of?

I'm not sure if the person wants me to mention their name but they are a regular poster on these forums. I'm sure they will post here if they don't mind. If you want to set up a test account then that is fine with me.

Well I think you have to release their name now, without doing so you are making false accusations when you have no evidence/proof.

We try and limit servers to under 75 accounts, but with that said if a site is using 10mb's of transfer a month you can put 150 sites like this on a server.

ok well I sent you their name in a pm. I am sorry if it was a false accusation it was just something I heard.

Netweaver.com have a very rude director in the name of John, Your sorted as long as you get anyone else dealing with your support problems though specially Paul hes very helpful.

The network they are on is very and they host www.bigbytes.co.uk

I've mainly used them for domain registration but my friend his moving to there servers next week so we'll see if paying them £50 a year gets me a politer service than paying them £12 for a domain :D

I said you were getting slower ... however if you really do limit servers to 75 accounts ... that maybe ok .. if they don't use much server resources and data-transfer .....

However , it may be a connection fault along the backbone :confused2

Don't matter ....

I don't need free hosting anymore .. i'll be offline for awhile

When i come back i'll get a reseller account :biggrin2:

Myacen ... you know i think highly of your support .... but you know you'll need to get more staff soon the rate myacen is growing :biggrin2: .....

Also .. maybe go over to co-location or ... managed solutions .... maybe also keep a few rackshack servers for some accounts ;)

I just read about you being offline, as I have informed you regarding support via icq look out for big things from us over the next couple of months.
