I'm with richard, there's no way I'm going to be seen to support this regime.
It's going to be the munich olympics again, with all the Chinese athletes drugged up.

I'm sorry guys, but you really have no idea about what is going on. If you don't want to go to China, sure, I have no problem with that. I don't need to hear any further.
But if you are going to give the reason that it's because of what you heard in the news in the past few weeks, or when you start to blame the regime, then I have a problem. Because you can't only base your knowledge on the western view (like it or not, there is propaganda in the western media.. a LOT of propaganda).
There is so much history behind this whole situation, and China is so diverse. There is so much to complain about for everyone (Everyone in China complains), but the solidity of a government can't be bent for the entire people if only a small group of people wants it their way. This works for every government, every country, and every place in the world.
China's government is evolving. Democracy didn't come into England in the blink of an eye, and democracy brought into a country by force will fail: I give you Iraq as an example.
China is also different from England in the sense that it is much, much, much more diverse... There are 56 groups of Indigenous people. Because of this reason, there will be conflicts, there will be disputes.. but never, will we separate.
There are already enough laws set up for the minorities in China. If Canadians think the whole French-Canadian protection is bad, they have yet to experience the laws in China.
Anyways, I don't want this to be a flame war. If you want to discuss this matter, please PM me.
EDIT: Heh, and go easy on the -rep button :P.

If India can do why not China?

India is a completely different case. India had been occupied by England for many many years. No country was able to successfully overtake and occupy China.
EDIT: Who gave me a -rep? I don't really care about it to tell you the truth, but I just wanted to talk to you regarding your comment after it.

I don't want to step foot in china with the pollution. The media moan at us for pollution, the world should turn their heads to china.

i heard somewhere that people were going to boycott the Beijing Olympics.
I don't have a passport, otherwise I may come.
I don't know what to believe about the current issue with China and Tibet, however, so I don't know if I would be safe, or if I would be harassed because I'm a foriegner.
Otherwise, yes; I'd love to go!
Think I will just check scores online though

China is an emerging economy, why should they be told not to pollute when those telling them not to pollute are polluting? We may have cleaned up but when we were emerging economies we were just as bad. Quit trying to use china as a scapegoat, its more of global ---- up.

No, you won't be harassed. Chinese people regard foreign people with high esteem and respect... But expect to be gypped. You can bet on that happening a lot (they think all foreigners are rich... dumb ideology, but consider what you earn per year compared to what they earn per year).
Also, the people underwent a nation-wide "manners, and etiquette" education in preparation for the Olympics (Heh, this is where state-controlled media comes to use); so in terms of that, people are much better. Are there still problems? Heck yes! But it's slowly becoming better.
I mean, not long ago, people didn't want to go to Japan...
Anyways, in such crowded places, you can't expect people to not be angry (consider NYC).
