Hey,

Ubersmith is expensive and pretty darn useless to be honest, unless you get the DE version (VERY EXPENSIVE) it's very hard to configure plans.

Are there any cheaper & better alternatives to Ubersmith?

Regards

I'm an uber (pun intended) fan of WHMCS...

It does everything I need and then some! I did a demo of several of the other billing systems and WHMCS was the best that I could find. Modernbill isn't user friendly, ClientExec is missing some features, Ubersmith was just strange, and AWBS was not that great either.

Hey,

We're currently using WHMCS, but I like Ubersmith's tool of monitoring your server usages etc

Hmmm if you are using Plesk and Virtuozzo, I would check into Parallels Business Automation, but other than that I am not sure what then.

Not being that familiar with Ubersmith's monitoring system as the price and general interface made me look elsewhere, what exact features are you looking for?

Hey,

Bandwidth monitoring, IP listing and all the main Ubersmith features really.
I like LimeStone Networks' custom panel the Rockware or whatever it's called.

Do the other ubersmith products do that as well other than Ubersmith DE? I couldn't justify $3500 + $500/month for a piece of software.

Hey,

LITE & PRO don't have ALL the monitoring. On DE you can do addons via Ubersmith itself, on LITE & PRO you can't! Just a waste of money in my eyes.

What control panels are you using?

Hey,

For VPS - HyperVM
For dedicated servers we order direct from the data center.

Ubersmith also requires that you have direct access to the routers/switches (Direct Login), which if you are reselling from a datacenter, you would not normally have.

The reason Ubersmith is so expensive, is they carry out custom work for you - if you get a new router/switch, they will program a module to work with that switch for the bandwidth monitoring, etc. Same with remote reboot ports, etc.

If you need something done in the coding, they will do it for you, as long as its integration with hardware for a feature they already have.
