Which ISP do you use and do you like your ISP?
I'm using Pacific Internet and is very happy with it, they usually respond within two days and fix the problem within 1-2 weeks. For example the port problem I had I asked them to have it fixed and they did it.

Their dial-up service sucks, and thats what I use.....i'm going to get their ADSL soon though....
I have called their tech support for plenty of good reasons countless times, and for some reason they will restrict my download speed if i use my account for more than a few hours at a time. Never happens to my father, though.

Prexar. I was using CommTell until their office here shut down. Do I like Prexar? No, but they're the only local ISP available, so I guess that doesn't leave me anywhere else to go.

main connection is bigpond.com.au
considering they are owned by telstra, and telstra is the biggest telco in aus, they are the most reliable ISP I have ever heard of. I have only had 2 hours of unscheduled downtime in the last two years, the only problem is they are expensive if your dad doesnt work for telstra :p,
my backup conection (although i never need it) is tpg.com.au, slow slow slow slow slow slow slow slow slow slow slow slow slow slow slow, is all i can say about them.

Jan, my recommendation to you, now that dingo blue is gone, would have to be savtek.net. Three different unlimited plans, all with unlim hours and downloads, but different session limits
4 Hour Session Limit - $19.95 month (must be paid with a credit card)
6 Hour Session Limit - $24.95 month
8 Hour Session Limit (used to be unlimited) - $29.95 month

Have you ever used them? You use two others. Bigpond I can understand but TPG???
Moonman
March 22nd, 2002, 23:41
TPG just sucks, one of my friends uses savtek, and he says it is pretty good, and he is a trustworty person, so i am just going by his word, and i only recommended that, not bigpond, because bigpond is expensive, but for the reliability, if you have the money, get it.

stny.rr.com
southern tier new york road runner
ran by TWC (Time Warner Cable)
nice little cable connection most times my throughput is well above 1 mbps and sometimes reaches 2.5mbps. Works for me considering I pay $12 a month for it and it includes the modem as well.

Hey TPG is good, and they give out free accounts.
It's really cool, because well... their free accounts are free.
You can only use them between 1am-8am... but hey, they're free... fast, unlimited download, and time.
Comes in handy. :cool2:
Optusnet and Bigpond suck due to incredibly pathetic download limits. Ozemail is crap too, due to the same reasons.
I must find a new host too soon. :cry2:

Hee Hee. :biggrin2:
Well, what me and my mate do is, we both just connect at 1, and then go to bed, leave it downloading stuff.
Although, I need to be on at 1am anyway, so I am usually already connected; so I don't use it as much as I used to.

iiNet (http://www.iinet.net.au/) - best Western Australian ISP. They also own Chime Communications (http://www.chime.net.au/) and Jiva (http://www.jiva.com.au/) (web hosting)

Yeah well i was one of the first 50 people to get the nightrider pack account thingy. I visited the site within about half an hour of them saying they had it, and registered. Between 1-8 in the morning is about the only time TPG is fast :D.

Maybe for the public, but i get 100 hours free a month, 50 cents an hour after that (which is normally when i start using my TPG account) and unlim downloads, you reall need someone working for telstra though. I get free calls through pay phones, and more. But a way to get free calls in payphones (illegally) (only in the new ones) is to put your money in, put a straw up the coin refund bit, and wriggle it around, then your money will come out, but you will still have credit.

You lot don't seem to read properly. He's closing his f2s account so that he can reopen a new one which he can use for his adsl.
Also my isp is http://www.btopenworld.com . They're not too bad. I have 512kb/s modem so the maximum I can get is 64kb/s but I actually get a maximum of 60kb/s which isn't bad. They aren't very well organised though and do have their problems but now they seem pretty good. I'm hoping they don't mess up and go slow again.

Yeah, if I were his parents, I would close his dialup account down, same will my parents, unless my father is Bill Gates(who will maybe say keep using keep using!).
Anyway if my father was bill gates, he would make me use MSN.

True. But there is no point in using it for an os for a host because I think it would waste resources. Windows 2000 would be better but then unix would be best.
