Rip it. And then convert it.
Simple. And MSN sounds/Errors will not effect it at all.

You can get a converter, or editer that can "extract" the music and video.

For someone with no idea about codecs and what not, I'd suggest you convert it to an avi file, using one of the many DVD2AVI machines out there, and then extract the MP3 audio from the avi ... if you search enough you might find something that can skip the converting the video stage as that can take hours to complete, and I assume you want title music ....

Convert it to an avi then rip the audio using VirtualDubMod (http://virtualdubmod.sourceforge.net/)
Load the video into VDM, click the Streams menu > Stream list, click the Demux button and save the file as file.mp3 (replace file with the name you want to use).

Find the download link for SUPER converter somewhere here: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
After that, drag your DVD file into the box when super is open.
Select your filetype (mp3?) and video will be disabled and only audio will be the output ;)
