I know that everyone uses and stuff....what about other payment alternatives including:
Alert Pay
Storm Pay
2 Checkout
Google Checkout
Money Bookers
E-Gold
Authorize.net
World Pay

If you have a hosting company, Do you think that any of these will gain grounds and be the next paypal?
What are the reasons for your hosting company for not accepting these payment alternatives?

The more options the better for the customer.

I use
Pay-pal
Merchant bank account for CC
Goggle
Bank transfer.

Paypal and merchant bank account are fighting for top dog.
Google lags far behind
Bank transfers Just started that one but i have had only one customer ask for that. Which is the sole reason why i am setting it up.

As paypals gotten bigger, they are starting to act like the banks. Treating users like ---- and charging ridiculous fees :S

Most people use PayPal and that is why most of us offer PayPal as a way to pay for services.

Hi,
I think using more options is better, at least you are showing kind of reliability. Not everyone can open merchant account. People prefer paypal because it can be more or less anonymous and its faster, well then you need to withdraw to bank but is still faster. The merchant providers are better and have more options and at some point are flexible but having more payment options is good, and its good for both your company's reputation and if you want to build solid business credit history.

Good Luck :)

Depends what you can afford, we use PP and have a full merchant account through them, also a bank merchant, and other options including e-gold (which we've used for years without a hitch, it gets a bashing for some reason).

Honestly the banks are more trouble, PP is uninformed (help is usually wrong, and late), actually the only one we've never had problems with is e-gold.

They are a 'bank' as in a financial institution, they do have a down side, and they're charges ain't the best but they are accessible. You have a choice live with it or don't. Then you cut off clients who do.

PayPal is popular, but EGold is requested many times, too. I don't think it'll ever be as popular as PayPal, but definitely has it's own niche.

I use full merchant account and PayPal. It's one of those "everybody uses it" deals, and that's why vendors tend to use them. I have E-Gold, AlertPay, PayPal, merchant CC, and bank transfer, along with check/money order. Covers all the bases. :)

Paypal is definately the most popular Payment Processor, so it makes sense to use it.

We used paypal, and had an alertpay account. E-gold made the transfer of funds to a bank account more difficult, and I didn't appreciate that. I wanted to use Google Checkout, but I didn't see the demand yet. I think Google Checkout will be more popular soon, but since Ebay users seem to use paypal so much, I think that paypal will always have a high demand.

I use PayPal occasionally because it doesn't accept my Debit Card, however, I use MoneyBookers more often because it does accept my Card.

I had a paypal for a while (for donations and paying for other things) but then I just got tired of it and just started going straight through Credit Card...
