Recording a DVD

if i was to watch a dvd on my laptop and wanted to record some bits from it, not all, which software can i use? basically, ive got a homemade music video and want to publish some bits to youtube! dont worry about the format not being mpeg for youtube compatiablity!

Well, you'd need to first use a video editor to split the bits that you want out of the DVD, then you'd need a converter. you can search the net for your own editing software, but here is a good converter: http://www.erightsoft.com/S6Kg1.html and yeah, i agree, this doesn't sound legal.
