View Full Version : McAfee Anti-Virus, what's causing this?

McAfee for the last 2 weeks or something has been a pain.
For no reason whenever I open the manager etc it's just blank.
It's been working since January when I got my subscription, so I don't know what's caused it.
It still updates and installs them, and it still does scans, but only on the fly. I can't make it do a scan since I can't open the manager to do one. Here's a screenshot:

I've not re-installed it yet, because I can't!

I've heard this happening to somebody else recently.. it's a ----e program, I don't know why you bought it. AVG is much, much better than McAfee in every way.

Yeah, I know it's crap but it's the only one that appealed to me at the time. I used Norton for like the last 5 years. But I bought a new subscription from Amazon, and them being themselves, I never received it, and they said I never even ordered it, though my bank statement shows I payed for it :( I hate Amazon, 2nd time they done this.
Anyway, I don't like AVG that's why I got this.

Where do I go for that? Do i click that "McAfee Virtual Technician" in the Quick Links menu?

Avg is good anti virus however if you use it with other anti viruses it may delete all the files. Its happen to me like twice now.

ah, it's the thing I was talking about: " McAfee Virtual Technician" it takes me to that, gah, with my net playing up on the laptop, i wont be able to do it :<

Yeah, I got an email not short after submitting it.
It wasn't much help, the guy just told me, what I told him.
Gave me a IEFixReg.bat file, which didn't work. :(
I'm talking to an rep now though.
edit: i had to install Windows JScript 7.5 or something again. then i had to use the McAfee software remover completely, like the thing you have to do with Norton, I then needed to re-download and install it from my McAfee account.

that bad, mine sort of did that but only on the registration page, it was just a hotfix for me

Yeah, I guess there was something that was overlooked, took 20 mins just to get told I had to re-install it. Which i didn't want to do :(
the live chat seemed like a bot to me, or it was just complete quick menu talk, just clicking.
