My 3 year old LCD just seemd to ---- itself, Its screen is totally black when its turned on, I am asuming its rooted but is there any way I could attempt to get it working again, very pissed off right now, I threw out 3 old Monitors like 3 weeks ago saying "I will never use these"
:cry2:

Erm, have you tried the connections at the back? Maybe one of them has come loose.. If not, then try re-installing the graphics driver, it might work again then. If that fails, try and reset the monitor's settings then re-plug it into the PC.

As i said, the monitor is stuffed, I am asking what I can do to make a broken LCD work again.
i have run all the tests to work out its the LCD..
Connection tested
Tested on another PC (This one)
Videocard tested
Cable tested
I just thought someone might know a simple trick, or a common issue that may be fixable, before I do my nut and throw it out the door watching it tumble on to the drive way. :devious2: then go buy a new one tmw

Well.. once all the inital testing is done (seems to be covered) then is be getting out a screw driver, and multimeter and looking for faults.
You in Melb?
I got plenty of spare screens if you need one, or i can get you a nice cheap LCD :D

Erm, take it to your local PC store? that's probably the best bet, they'd refurbish it.

Might sound silly but connect it up and switch on the pc, then tilt it to catch light and see if there looks like anything on screen (shadows of a display) if there is the backlights gone and a cheap repair could be all that's needed to replace it. You can't normally just by a replacement EL unit and fit it so one of the better stores would be your best bet.

Sometimes it's the inverter circuit (high voltage supply) rather than the EL tube, worth checking the connection, just a 2 pin job, but watch your fingers :P

hmm.. i read it as the backlight is the only thing working.
Deckers right, and its about the most common problem with LCDs.
Good thing is, if you cant repair it, its not hard to improvise a fix :D

I went and brought a new one from my local PC shop, I wish I could get deals like that without ----ing around lol, I just payed 299 (27.18 of that was tax I might add) I mean, As if I dont pay enough tax already, then you got the retarded GST on top of everything, Im so sick of australias tax system...
Anyway, The shop I went to is cheap compared to any other store around here, Harvey Norman try to sell you a 17' for 500$ LOL!
I could of got cheaper by ordering on the mainland but meh, then you got to worrie about postage over the bass straight, and it takes ages to get here..
So Im happy, still have the old monitor here, might do what decker said later..

Centrecom is close enough, I live about 1k from the Nunawading warehouse.
P.S. I think they may be shutting the store near me down, because it's no longer listed on their website.

maybe they're just relocating it to Blackburn, a neighboring suburb.
