I want to get RockBand. I've only ever played GH2/3 on the 360 & Wii at a friends house(s), I've not got it myself though. The first time I knew of RockBand, like 3/4 months before release, I was like a pure kid. I was so excited, I just want those drums!

If I ever get it, or get a chance to play it, I'd have a go :p

No, but I'm gonna get Guitar Rising. You use an actual electric guitar for it.

----, does it work if your gutair, whenever you basically touch it, it comes out of tune, will it still work? Either way, I want that :O
edit: seriously, that has just made my week without question. Gah, I can't wait. Screw Rockband :P (jk :P)

If they made it the way I think they did, it may work. There is actually something pretty similar to it that already exist, but it doesn't have a game-like interface, it's more of an application, forgot what it's called.

Ive got somthing i bought in about 1999 called a Gvox.
Its basically a set of pickups for your guitar and a littel box, that converts the guitars output to MIDI.

Thing is rather good. Its a pitty they dont sell or support them anymore.

If you played a note, it displayed on screen exactly the string and fret you used!

Unfortunatly, i got too too into it one day when playing and yanked on the cabel a littel too hard. Ripped the wires out directly from the pickup :(

B-b-but.. if you put in the effort of getting guitar rising, why don't you actually learn to play the guitar? It's a really fun instrument.

You learn, as you play :D
That'd be better for me, those DVD's aren't cutting it.

Guitar Rising is more of a learning tool. It just has a game interface so that it appeals to the gaming community.

I am completely on the South Park Stance for this.

For the amount of time playing guitar hero, you could have learnt how to play an actual guitar.

Yeah im with jonny on that, great playing with your mates with a few beers but have too many and you mess up.

Ive just done dragonforce in medium it`s took me a couple weeks to do it though.

Anyone noticed the timing difference between the wii version and the xbox version?

On the wii version you strum well before the note is due as the the xbox version you strum on the note, can be quite confusing at times especially on the faster tracks.

As for Rock Band ive only just started to play it but I love it.

I've played Rock Band in the store. I played both the drums and the guitar.

I wouldn't touch the mic even if it was there though :P

There is a game for PC where you play the Piano. You hook up an electric keyboard to the computer, and it's just like guitar hero but for computer and for piano.

http://www.synthesiagame.com/

It was previously known as Piano Hero but the guy got a C&D letter, so he changed it to Synthesia.

Ye the keyboard game is alright, although it sucks if you don't actually have an electric keyboard.

I've got both the Guitar Hero and Rock Band game (using the GH3 controller for both games) on the Xbox 360. They are both decent games, although I'd say Rock Band is a consierably easier game on the guitar than Guitar Hero (almost finished RB on Expert, yet to fail a song, whereas only half way through on GH).
There are definately more solos on GH3, which obviously appeals to some more than others. Yet there are more songs available to download and play on RB, probably due to their affiliation with MTV.
