Yeah, I agree with Nicks, though I'd like to see Obama winning, though I couldn't give a ----, it's politics, someone always messes up soon after they start.

Why :S?

Why :S?
Nick's implied that he wants McCain to win every state (except Cal) and you said "I agree, although I'd like to see Obama winning"
Kind of a contradiction no?
Dynash
June 30th, 2008, 19:15
Ahh, I meant it as, I agree that McCain would probably win, but I'd like to see Obama winning.

Silly Colin, even I knew Dynash meant that :S

The tool takes too much time to use! :p But anyway, I think McCain will win, and I think polls will show him doing so after the first real debate between he and Obama.

I think Obama is going to take it by a landslide.
Either way, whatever the outcome, it's not going to matter. I used to get all swept up in it.... I really don't care anymore. Politicians are politicians and we're ----ed either way.

Politicians are politicians and we're ----ed either way.
Indeed, that about sums it up for me this time around, too. :( I wish Ron Paul were a serious contender; he was the only candidate which I could actually get excited about.

I personally would prefer Obama in office as I can see McCain having a heart attack in a year or so :D
It will most likely be like Johnson's prediction, minus Florida... We are a pain in the --- every 4 years as we always have to have a manual recount ;)

As much as I would love for Obama to win by a landslide, I don't see that happening. It'll be pretty close once everything is counted, and I don't think the polls showing Obama ahead at the moment are going to mean anything. I DO think that once the two start debating, McCain is going to lose some points in the foreign policy area. Obama knows his stuff there and I thought he stomped the other democrats on it in the democrats' debates.
So I'm hoping Obama wins, but I'm not holding my breath for it.

I don't see McCain gaining a single point from any debate.
TehGuy
July 5th, 2008, 02:02
He could gain some points temporarily if we get another crappy debate like the last democrats' debate with Hillary and Obama. You know, the one where the first hour was bashing Obama. Worst moderators I've ever seen in a debate.
I find it interesting that Ben colored the states black.

Lets keep in mind that around the summer, Reagan was down by 15 points and went on to win one of the biggest landslides in American history.
I predict McCain wins pretty comfortably. Obama is unchallenged by the media and to a degree Republicans so far but that will soon change with massive TV blitzes. Debates will also have an impact. Once Obama has his feet put to the fire his numbers will fall real bad.
He already is doing pretty bad. In a year where the Republican brand is super weak he still hasn't broken out in the polls against McCain.
We will see where Obama stands when his refusal to wear the American flag lapel pin is brought back to the forefront, when his naive views on foreign policy are examined, when his speech about how Americans should learn Spanish to deal with immigration rather than having immigrants learn English gets some more airtime (a position that according to Rasmussen 83% of the US public disagrees with).
I predict McCain 54%, Obama 45% nationally in November, and McCain winning around 300 electoral votes +/- 20.

Underdogs can win, yes.
Obama is being attacked by the media for his FISA vote. Massive TV blitzes will likely help Obama, on account of his money-making juggernaut. Also, if you recall, Obama did well in the debates against Hillary.
The last time McCain was ahead of Obama in any poll was in early May. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/us/general_election_mccain_vs_obama-225.html
Refusing to war a pin has no weight on whether or not you'll be a good leader. Naive views? Was Kennedy or Lincoln naive? They had the same views.
America is a land of immigrants, we have no official language.
Bottom line why McCain will have a hard time winning: he opposes abortion while the majority of voters are women, and the majority of women are pro choice. McCain wants to continue the Iraq war, and begin one in Iran; which is opposed by the majority of voters. No matter which side you support, you have to admit that these 2 issues alone will have a huge, negative impact on McCain's chances.

Bob Barr all the way.
Well, I think Obama is going to win. You shouldn't count McCain out too early, I think it is going to be close but Obama will just squeek by.

obama only needs california, washington and oregon at this point and it'll put him over the edge. so far my prediction is dead on balls accurate
