I am currently designing an IT Website for a project that I am involved in, which will hopefully take off early in the new year.
Anyways, here is what I have come up with and would like to get some ideas on what to add, delete, change etc.

First impression? Yuck! After staring at it for a minute, I actually kind of like it. The colors work, whether it be for the better or the worse. I'm not sure what about it, exactly, "works", but their not too hard on the eyes, and it's not like every other site you see on the web. I assume once coded it'll also look way better, at least my designs always do (it's hard to get proportions etc right in photoshop 'a?). Can't wait to see the fully finished product.

Thanks Hunter. These are the kind of comments etc one likes to see. I hate it when people are fake and go "Oh that's great". Thanks for that.
Yeah, once I am comfy enough to put it to coding, it will be done in HTML and CSS and will also be acceptable to XHTML and CSS standards.

I like the colour combination, however, the layout itself needs more work. If you are new to designing then you're doing very well, just put more efforts to bring the layout to a better shape.

Thanks mate.
Yeah I am relatively new to it.
Any ideas on the directions I should be taking regarding the layout?

I'd say that you should stick to 1-3 variants in terms of fonts. Other than that, it looks relatively good.

I have to agree with some of Hunters comments. First opinions, not a very nice design, but the colours definitely work, if you put a bit more umph and 2.0 into it, could be amazing :D

Thanks Jason.
Am definitely taking all of this on board. Will have a live preview shortly with some Lorem Ipsum to fill the spaces.

@ hamed4u, I like the colors, which is why I used them :)

WAY too wide, try like 900px total, and lighten the font in the content area to a #282828 - it'll take some of the harshness away. Also make the padding inside the content areas more like 10px, itll make it look a lot nicer.

It's a fluid width. I don't like using widths in Pixels because of differences in screen widths etc.
The design is done at like 85% or something. So, it is down to your own screen res.
Have changed the width to 75%
Have changed the font color to #282828
Have changed the padding as follows:
Main Body: 10px
Side Box: 5px
Let me know if there is anything else. :)

The logo part of the header is kinda off in FF3.

Must be your browser settings or something man. I am using FF3 and it looks fine. The mid section is a bit screwed in IE alright
