It makes sense - a reputation system can't just have positive rep, otherwise it's unbalanced and pointless. The negative rep is just as important as the positive rep, so why not thank the user for doing both?

(I think the reputation system is retarded and useless, post counts are a much more reasonable measure of e-peen, I've had reputation disabled since the beginning, your mileage may vary)

dont worry about the rep so much. if you get it good, great, if you dont, oh well. just help people, and you will get a lot, that is how you get good rep. also, post some funny stuff, and get a hot wife like i did. :D

I think the point of that is so that you don't leave feedback if you don't like the buyer. In most cases the sellers don't choose buyers anyway, so it's not like it matters much.
