which one of these layouts are the best - give reasons

layout 1 (http://mlowery.nirmani.net/~project5/holyscribe/1.2/home.htm)
layout 2 (http://mlowery.nirmani.net/~project5/holyscribe/1.2/home2.htm)

Thanks.............

Truthfully I don't care for either of them. Forced to chose I'd say number one, but I don't like it. First of all, I don't like the iFrames. It's not that I hate iFrames per se, but I don't like what you've done with them. It's very cluttered, there's too much to scroll, there's too much flashy animations, it doesn't scale well to various resolutions... I just really don't like it.

i agree with dusty and cyber. the first is better than the second, but i don't especially like either. having iframes inside iframes is confusing, plus there are too many flashing or otherwise animated images. it feels very busy. also, the large image on the right takes a very long time to load for me.

For me you have 2 good layouts! Don't see any problem with them! The first is really cool! I like it! Frames aren't the best for a site, but you've placed them in a cool way!

You have two complicated layouts which I don't like any of the two. Alot to scroll.

so you dont like complicated layouts, iframes, flashing things, to much content..........:confused2

re-design is now being thought about yet again - Mika thanks for liking my layouts, I guess not many people do...........:(

If I were to choose one of my layouts it would be number 2, because it has less of the things most people dont seem to like.

i like them both, very nice and clean. 1 thing there's just a tad too much blinking animations, that's kinda distracting while you trying to read.

The layout #1 is nice ... at the first sight. Only then I realize:

- the download size is too big for a homepage (331 KB!), especially the Misato's image which is 166 KB alone.
- you're using HTML features that only compatible with the latest browsers.
- you're putting too much blinking '+' animated gifs. Use it only on a spot that *really* needs your visitors attentions.
- I can't figure out your contents. The fading effects is cool, but you must let your visitors know, just what is exactly you're offering to them. Perhaps you can edit your content images to blend more text to describe the content. Or you can use javascript to create floating description effect.
- Your site doesn't fit my 800x600 resolution.

Thats all. Thanx.

Way too much on both layouts, I like the second more... but still there is way too much going on in both layouts. They are good though, but there is still a lot of room for work.

- Reduce the amount of moving objects and animations
- Reduce the file size of the graphics
- Make it compatible with 800X600. Works fine in 1152X864 though.
