Hey,

I've been looking and trailing Lightspeed lately and it works perfect under DOS attack and it seems to be a lot more 'stable' than Apache.

What do you prefer?

I've used Lightspeed in the past, I do like it and overall it is great, but I like Apache 2.x still.

@Schmarvin
Lightspeed is a well built system for a long time

In the long scheme i wouldn't recommend lightspeed as its not as fully covered as Apache and though its supposedly faster, its faster for certain things like video sites etc.

Youtube servers run on lightspeed ;)

Thing is with lightspeed, the license isn't very cheap but I think it'll go up in the future when it's fully developed. So now would be the time to buy?

Oh, then someone posted the wrong link. Could someone send me a link to it?

It's still the same, but here's the main dev website: http://litespeedtech.com - the standard edition is free.

Thats cool. Would cPanel be able to run on it?

Dynash

Yeah, it works with it. HyperVM even comes with it, so you can switch between them both easily. Check their docs on the site, it has the info to install it with cPanel.

I wish lighttpd was fully supported by cPanel.

If I remember correctly, it was fully supported.

I would stick with apache, but that's just me.

I'm testing out LiteSpeed for now. It seems quite a bit faster than Apache.

You can use Lightspeed but if you run into a problem or a server-extension or something stops working, you'll be on your own..

Heres what my datacenter LiquidWeb's response on LightSpeed was:

Thank you for contacting Liquidweb. Their web page claims that is 100%
compatible with cPanel. However we are not able to support it as we do not
supply it. The site claims that "LiteSpeed can operate directly from an
Apache configuration file or you can use our Apache-to-LiteSpeed configuration
converter". While I have never used the product myself I cannot comment
on how well the converter or litespeed using your existing apache
configuration will work. We would also no longer be able to monitor you
http service as our monitoring software will not allow for it.

Which leads me to ask, Schmarvin are you running Lightspeed by it's self or with Apache?

If its integrated fully with cPanel that would be awsome post back if someone knows.

Litespeed runs by itself with apache disabled however don't mistake it to be a standalone webserver. LiquidWeb doesn't support it because their admins do not have any training with it, and i'm not sure why they couldn't monitor the http service, all they would have to do is change the path to litespeeds http service.

We recently began offering litespeed with the 2 core enterprise license on a 4 core server. There is many bonuses that come with it including increased performance, however Apache2 vs Litespeed standard version isn't much of a difference in benchmarks. So if you can afford to pay for the Enterprise edition then I would highly recommend it.

Standalone, the apache service is disabled. Although, its running off the previous apache config file I think.
