Someone signs up for your hosting and after a couple months decide to go elsewhere, for no apparent reason, and not tell you?
It's when the system auto suspends their account for non payment and you visit the URL to find it still works. That pisses me right off.
Why can't people just contact you and say "Sorry but I have decided to move host. You can delete my account now."

Gawd!!!

Not just on free hosting. It happens to us gameserver providers as well...

Dont they read the TOS when they sign up?

Should put a section in there. "Failure to notify us of a cancellation 3 days prior to your due date could result in a $200 fee." Then threaten to send it to a collections agency! Maybe they will learn!

Nah that won't work mate. Collection agencies charge a fortune and most people know it wouldn't be worth a company's time or cash to hire them to collect 200+ bucks.

Maybe watch for subscription cancellations in your payment gateway?

We do, then e-mail the user and ask why and if we can do anything to keep them if they want to leave :)

I hate it when they do that; especially with VPS as I have to manually suspend it >.<

Not true! You can get collection agencies that take a percentage (Up to 75%) of the amount required with no additional fees. I found one a while back, I'll try to find the details on them for you all :) :evilb:

For a variety of reasons.

1. Propagation
2. In case there was a mistake made during transfer
3. People left you for a reason, and don't see the need to be nice and tell you.

just make subscription period minimum 1 year and tell them once subscribe, there will be no refund if they decide to leave within 1 year.

then they will be forced to stay for 1 whole year
:)

Yep, the 'ol "I will just move, no reason to tell 'em to cancel it!"

Nothing annoys me more than that, especially on VPS where I actually lose money due to licenses fees.

Dedi's are even worse though :(
