So... that.

Soon vacations period will be over, and i don't think i'll have enought time to put on my free host. Don't get me wrong, i like a lot what i do, but i don't want to leave my users all alone. I have put a lot of effort on this one xD

But that's just a maybe. lol.
So, wanted to get a small opinion from you guys. If you'd sell or buy a free host, what could you consider for the value? Like... effort, seo, ratings, accounts, and stuff like that. :ninja:

*I'd appreciate a lot if you didn't write my host name on this thread, you know, for search engines XD*

Erm, just so you know your Sig will display this thread in search engines under {hostname} ;).
It depends on how much you would value it, the thing that is worth more than money can buy, is time and effort. If you wanted, you could do a certain price per every account you have. For every account, you work out a payment fee.

Example;

6 months old = $2
5 = $.80
4 = $1.60
3 = $1.40
4 = $1.20
3 = $1.00

and so on. That's how I would personally sell it, depends on how many active accounts you have.

Hey,

Said to hear that you are considering doing that... I would say ratings and income levels would judge how it would sell.

lol, i knew about the sig thing, but if the word is in the thread, it gets more ranking on search engines, sigs don't mean that much :P

Thanks for your opinions =) Waiting for more to see what i'll do ^^

Hey,

Side questions if you are willing to post, what do you spend a month on the hosting and do you atleast make income?

The amount you sell any website or online service for is defined by how much you have to invest and how much you profit from it. The higher the ROI, the higher your selling price ;)

Errr.... ROI?

And i do not spend money on it, except for the forum license, lol. The value would in this case be... ranking? Rating... Uhm... effort (a lot, that can be asured)

ROI = Return on Investment

How is it your not spending money on hosting?

Erizo

I work in exchange of the hosting :P

Actually, ROI is Return On Investment. Basically it's just your revenue compared to your costs.

woops yep hamster for the win lol... sorry Im taking my Accounting Certification, and I dealt with Rates all day lol..

Well :P I'm not studying business as a school module but I just take interest in it so I read some.

Anyway, the higher your ROI, the more money your business is worth. For example, you get a VPS that's worth 25 USD a month to give out free hosting with. Provided you don't have any extra bills and you get say 100 USD through serving advertisements and premium upgrades, your free host would be worth quite a bit.

Other than ROI, there are still other factors such as potential. What monetization methods have you not implemented which are easily profitable? How are your traffic statistics? Is there any way you can further improve your earnings without much trouble?

Well, google adsense is implemented (google bot posting after first post of a thread) XD Well.... small traffic, not bad, but not good either ._.

What price per each acccount you would like to get?

Erizo
January 14th, 2009, 03:41
Dunno, there aren't that many active accounts. But there are good posting rates, i think xD (not great, but good enough)

But there are good posting rates
Sorry. I'm bit new to this. Could you explain what does it mean?

I would assume he means an active forum since he's P2H.
