i wouldn't recommend free hosting for business graham, you will find you can get decent hosting for a year for less than you paid for your domain name.
Would you want to develop it yourself ?

Hello,

I have actually seen plenty of businesses that are successful on free hosts - mainly small venues that don't have a mission critical website. If all you want it a few page website for your business than I think a free host will be ok for you. Just make sure they dont load your pages up with many ads. that is the only thing that will hinder you.

As for finding a free host, why not check out the web hosting offers forum?

Some web hosts which are in the free web hosting are good and solid. Leave your request and see what people will offer you. But think of the paid solution as well.

Well Graham it's quite easy to code a beginner website, and even easier with the help of a What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) editor such as KomPozer (free).
You can read up a bit on HTML at http://w3schools.com
If the tiling service is a personal, one-man job, free hosting is more than good enough to suit your needs.
If you are a corporation, or have multiple staff, consider paid hosting. On the average, a paid host has a little better uptime than free hosts. Of course, this differs and some free hosts have great uptime and service.
Most free hosts will have ads, unless it's a post to host service, in which you basically trade posts for free hosting.
I suggest you read around in this forum, there is a lot of good information here.
Good luck with your website.

Richard

There are few pros and cons regarding using a free web host for business intended sites. My opinion is there is nothing wrong with running a business on one except you'll need to be careful when selecting a certain free host provider some allow you to run a business where as others simply won't.

Of course though in the end there are factors that only you can decide, do you trust to run a business site on a free host? Especially if your business tends to grow and what if in the chance it starts to attract many visitors? Do you in the end trust putting that strain on a free host?

See it's not so much running my business but more of information and pictures of mt work.

The site address will be on all my business cards and leaflets basically any correspondents towards my business.

But like i say it's for information only really.I'd imagine if the site gets visited it'll be from future customers.

The business is sole trader tiler
