Don't you just hate when people blame their hosts as soon as their website is defaced? :shame:

I think it's the whole "I can do no wrong, otherwise I'd look like a n00b" approach. It is quite sad really, they didn't keep the script up to date, what can they expect?

:rolleyes2 I take it this is to my support ticket....

You do have a defaced on your server you can not hack a blank html file :classic2:

And to stop you crying more i ask the one that hacked it in the first please to re hack them and he can only do it when there hosted on your servers.

Sometimes it is the host. My host a few years back was attacked and all sites on the server were defaced. The whole place was down for days whilst he secured it and did all the stuff that hosts do, but that was too long for me so I eventually moved on.

I agree that sometimes it can be the hosts fault. Although it is usually helpful if the client contacts the host as soon as they realise it has happened. This way the host can check logs.

Its very essay to blame the customer but remember after being one with websites from 1996 i know how to use and keep my sites safe. ---- i even run a tech support company. :rolleyes2

We do have logs but the only support ticket you have ever opened was a one to tell us:

"I am find your server side security to very poor as some one who don't even the password is uploading a .htaccess fill then other files. Fix this as soon as or tell me if its my end."

After a reply from us, there was no response from you and the ticket was then automatically closed. There was another ticket but it was just to tell us that you wanted a refund which has now been sent to your PayPal account.

Edit:

Could a moderator please lock this thread? The problems have been resolved via support ticket and this thread will just add more problems. The thread was created to see what others thought of clients that blame their hosts.

This was not a thread to start an argument with you peter, this was simply to ask other hosts what they thought of clients that blamed their hosts. I didn't mention any names or anything but you decided to let others know it was you.

I've had other clients that have blamed us and then realised it was their insecure password. They then acted like men and accepted it was not a fault of ours.
