I use roundcube for my community website Talk Hosting and Development. I am quite fond of roundcube, it is fully integrated with AJAX much like Gmail :D Highly recommend it!

Yes, Roundcube is my favorite web-based email client at the moment. Relatively fast, full-featured, and flexible. Clients seem to like it too. :)

RoundCube doesn't give webhosting, it's a web based e-mail client.

it's a webmail script which you can install in your server.

Most Web-based software (even vBulletin!) is! But that's no reason not to use it. As long as you keep up with the patches, you should be fine.
