I read this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=89491

But I don't have most anything that is listed. I don't even have a /etc/inittab file.

My boot time upon fresh install was about 30 seconds.

But now that I've installed a few things, it's at 35 seconds.

After uninstalling evolution mail client, it went down to 29 seconds.

59. usplash - Well, if you really want to see the nice boot up screen, leave it as it is. I just turned it off anyway. If you want to turn it off, you also need to edit /boot/grub/menu. lst file to comment out the splashimage line and get rid of the splash kernel boot option. The default is 2,3,4,5

no splashimage entry in my menu.lst in 9.04

Post your menu.lst

Also, what daemons do you have start at boot time? Post a list

I'll have to get back to you on that as I'm temporarily using Windows at the moment.
