Well, recently launched my free host.

It got a huge amount of sign ups over the first week.

I didn't expect that at all after reading posts here of people saying it takes a few weeeks/months.

Well i have over 1000 active accounts in just over a week, its mad. Im trying to get my server upgraded asap but there taking there time about it. Meaning my server is now off line GRR.

Wish i knew it would kick of this quick and i would of had a bigger server in place at the start.

Reduce your offer of diskspace/bandwidth. About 95% of those "1000" (If you really have that many) are probably automated signups for spam/abuse.

Do you know how many of those are actually active? Also, make sure to check for abusive users...you may well have some abusers who are illegitimately eating up all of your resources.

Yes, I would venture to guess that a lot fo those 1000 are one person ordering multiple accounts. If it is not, then you can safely assume that out of the 1000, only about 200 will turn into active websites. Most signups end up not being used. I think people just like to know that they have a free hosting account if they ever need it, for some reason!

This is the "Instant Activations" weakeness you'll gains bots, abusers with normal users.
If you've decide to choose this path you've to configure the way to block them otherwise... kaboom.

Some people decide run p4host or request through forums instead because of that they can offer p4hosting, ad support offers with paid hosting offers. It's not too late if you want to change your concepts. There're many ways to handle problem if you notice & do SWOT analysis from your concept.
