How much of a discount do you get at your school?

They give a free copy of some form of Windows for CIS (computer) students. I'm going to go buy Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade though. It's $50 for a limited time!

Or you can just download FreeBSD and never have to worry what it costs or whether it will blue screen :)

On the other hand, I'm running Windows 7 on my laptop and it runs pretty much like Vista SP2. Works well.

One member of the online "Windows Club Forums" said they successfully tested Windows 7 on a Pentium II 264 Mhz (266 Mhz) computer, with 96MB ram and a 4MB videocard.

Lol. That's nuts!

Ooh, ohh, I have!!

30 minutes into the desktop, and I absolutely LOATHE it. But after an hour... I love it! Too bad Win7 RC blocks third-party codecs still.

I am working most of my time on a Mac. Now with OS X it is like linux and it is not bad. But I also have computers that run with linux and windows. And all the time if I use one or the other I am missing features that I am used to from the other OS. Windows I only use for Photoshop and Office though.

Nope, it's because Windows XP Professional x64 is treated as Windows Server 2003 by all applications. Also, there is no SP3 for Windows XP Pro x64.

Right, sorry about that, didn't see the "x64"

I'll be getting some copies from my school too. Since my copy of Vista is an OEM copy, I don't think it's valid for an upgrade.

Ouch, those are def needed. The RTM version that's out still doing this? May just give the iso a shot and find out :-)
