Does anybody know if they are going to rename Windows 7 to something else when it comes out? Windows 7 sounds odd when they have vista, xp, me, 2000, and me.

Doubt it. They've always named it Windows 7, marketed it as Windows 7, so would be pointless to change it now.

They will not rename it, Microsoft made it clear that it would stay as Windows 7.

Also, due to the fact that a lot of people already pre-ordered the OS, it would be impractical to rename it; it would cause more confusion.

If they had planned to rename it, they would have done so before releasing any public alpha/beta versions.

it was already renamed once before (its codename was blackcomb / vienna)

Not particularly important but I wish Microsoft would...now we have to read the full context in order to understand if W7 means windows seven or water seven inside our W7 community discussions.

I hope not, I think the name is kinda cool, edgy yet refined and it's also about time the digits in the name inverted somehow since we're def in a year where that's a trend..

I believe they have spend a lot of money for the Windows7 brand. So there is no need to spend that for the another one
